As a Handyman, you'll play a key role in maintaining safe, clean, and welcoming residential buildings in Birmingham, helping tenants feel proud of where they live every day.\n This opportunity is with a well-respected housing provider that puts tenants at the heart of everything it does. Working across three residential buildings in Birmingham City Centre, you'll join a supportive Neighbourhood Services team and enjoy a varied, hands-on role where you can make a visible difference to people's lives.\n I'd love to hear from anyone who has worked as a Handyman, Property Maintenance Operative, Caretaker, Estate Operative, Building Maintenance Technician, Facilities Operative, or in a similar maintenance role.\n As a Handyman, you will be:\nCarrying out scheduled building safety checks and inspections\nCompleting a range of minor repairs and maintenance tasks across communal areas\nUndertaking basic carpentry, painting, decorating, and general property upkeep\nResponding to maintenance issues to ensure buildings remain safe and well-presented\nRemoving rubbish, hazards, and waste from communal areas\nSupporting basic gardening and external maintenance duties\nReporting and monitoring communal repairs and maintenance requirements\nWorking closely with contractors, tenants, and colleagues to maintain high service standards\nSupporting continuous improvements across the residential buildingsI'd love to speak to anyone who has:\nExperience delivering excellent customer service\nPrevious experience as a Handyman, Caretaker, Maintenance Operative, or in a similar practical role\nConfidence working with tenants, contractors, and colleagues\nExperience carrying out routine inspections and following health and safety procedures\nStrong organisational skills and the ability to manage workloads effectively\nBasic IT skills for recording inspections and maintenance updates\nA full UK driving licence\nKnowledge of health and safety, COSHH, and safe working practices, or a willingness to learn\nExperience within housing, property maintenance, facilities management, or construction environmentsThis Handyman role is offering the following benefits:\nMonday to Friday working pattern with no evenings or weekends\n25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays\nOption to purchase an additional 5 days annual leave\nAnnual leave increasing to 30 days with service\nAccess to employee discounts through the Rewards Portal\nMatched pension contributions up to 8%\nLife Assurance\nMedicash healthcare benefits\nOngoing training, qualifications, and career development opportunities\nOpportunity to work for an organisation recognised as a Sunday Times Best Places to Work employerLocation & Travel Based in Birmingham City Centre, this role is easily accessible by public transport, with Birmingham New Street, Moor Street, and Snow Hill stations all within easy reach.
