Project Engineer (Automation and Controls) Location: Bridgwater Hours: 37 hours per week, Days with flexible working hours Salary: £45,000 + benefits (including 4% bonus), 25 days holiday and pension Key Responsibilities of a Project Engineer (Automation and Controls): • Act as the site expert for industrial control systems, automation and operational technology, • Support, troubleshoot and enhance automated PLC-based and data acquisition equipment, • Work closely with automation partners and internal teams to maintain and improve control systems, • Lead automation and operational technology projects from concept and specification through to commissioning and production support, • Develop and maintain project documentation and technical records, • Analyse and improve manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, quality and safety, • Ensure compliance with safety, quality and regulatory standards, • Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, production and quality teams to deliver site improvement initiatives Key Skills of a Project Engineer (Automation and Controls): • HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline (or equivalent), • Experience working in an engineering or manufacturing environment, • Strong knowledge of PLC and HMI programming, ideally Siemens or Mitsubishi systems, • Experience with industrial automation and control systems, • Knowledge of robotics integration (ABB, Kawasaki or similar) would be advantageous, • Experience with control panel wiring and industrial control devices, • Understanding of CNC machining processes and manufacturing environments, • Experience using CAD software such as Autodesk or SolidWorks, • Understanding of machinery safety standards including EN 13849, • Strong problem-solving, communication and project management skills, • Proficient with MS Office and engineering documentation
