Senior Development Analyst Salary: From £50,000 – £55,000 DOE + 8% annual bonus + private healthcare + benefits Location: South London, UK Schedule: Monday to Friday, no weekends – On Site Based The Opportunity An exciting and technically involved position for a Senior Development Analyst to take a lead role within our clients South London Laboratory, ensuring analytical excellence, regulatory compliance and the ongoing development of UKAS-accredited products and processes. This role is central to maintaining and expanding UKAS accreditation (ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034) while driving continuous improvement in laboratory performance, data integrity, and validation standards. You’ll act as UKAS Deputy Head of Laboratory and Quality Controller, providing scientific oversight, coordinating audits, approving certifications, and ensuring analytical methods remain compliant, validated, and up to date. Key Responsibilities • Provide professional analytical direction for the production and certification of all laboratory products, including raw materials, pure products and calibration mixes, • Serve as Deputy Head of Laboratory under the UKAS Management System, ensuring all accredited products meet ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034 requirements, • Approve and sign off all UKAS-accredited product certificates, ensuring accuracy, traceability and adherence to current standards, • Lead and participate in internal and external UKAS audits, including surveillance and scope-extension audits; prepare reports, manage corrective actions (CARs) and drive continuous improvement, • Oversee the development, validation and commissioning of analytical methods, systems and equipment; manage CAPEX justifications and business cases for new instrumentation, • Design and maintain documented measurement uncertainty budgets compliant with ISO GUM principles, underpinning UKAS accreditation and product release, • Maintain, review and update UKAS-related procedures, documentation, and LIDAP/LiMSS instructions to ensure compliance and data integrity, • Plan and deliver training, mentoring and competency assessments for analysts involved in accredited procedures, ensuring full coverage and succession planning, • Provide input into customer audits, technical investigations, and product improvement initiatives, • Ensure all SHEQ, GMP and quality requirements are embedded in day-to-day lab operations. About You • A technically strong and detail-driven professional with a solid grounding in UKAS-accredited laboratory operations and analytical chemistry, • You’ll have the confidence to manage audits, approve certifications and influence stakeholders at all levels, • Degree in Chemistry or related discipline, • Strong technical understanding of UKAS accreditation systems (ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034), • Proven experience working within or managing a UKAS-accredited laboratory system, • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and lead internal and external UKAS audits, • Experience in measurement uncertainty, validation and method commissioning, • Strong analytical, mathematical and statistical skills, • Excellent communication and influencing abilities with a collaborative approach, • Confident using laboratory management systems and analytical tools (FTIR, GC, or similar).
