At Bristol Myers Squibb, our employees often ask, “Who are you working for?”—a question that fuels collaboration, accountability, and urgency in our work. Our purpose-driven culture inspires us to discover, develop, and deliver innovative medicines to prevail over serious diseases. We offer uniquely interesting and meaningful work, opportunities for growth, and a supportive environment that values inclusion, wellbeing, flexibility, and comprehensive benefits. This is work that transforms the lives of patients, and the careers of those who do it. You spent years developing deep clinical expertise in oncology wards, in research, in understanding what patients actually need. At some point, you started asking a different question: what if I could apply this knowledge to help not just the patients in front of me but thousands of patients I’ll never meet? Bristol Myers Squibb is looking for a Medical Advisor, Oncology to join our UK Medical Affairs team, based at our head office in Uxbridge with up to 50% remote working. This is a role at the forefront of what modern Medical Affairs looks like and at a company, where the science genuinely moves fast. Let's be direct. Not all Medical Advisor roles are created equal. The therapy area matters. The portfolio matters. The pace of development matters. And so does the team you do it with. • The portfolio is genuinely exceptional. You’ll be working on innovative oncology products – multi‑indication medicines, pipeline assets targeting high unmet patient need, in a space where BMS has built a globally recognised, scientifically credible position. This isn’t a watching brief. This is a front‑row seat at one of the most active and meaningful oncology pipelines in the industry., • The pace is real. BMS is a company that moves with genuine urgency – because the patients waiting for these medicines can’t afford for us not to. If you’ve ever felt frustrated by organisational inertia, this is a different experience., • The team is genuinely collaborative. You’ll work within a close‑knit UK Medical Affairs team and connect with worldwide medical and brand teams across BMS’s global network. The culture here is one of collective responsibility – where your expertise is valued, your contribution is visible and your colleagues are as passionate about the science as you are. You’ll take ownership of medical strategy and scientific activities for your designated oncology portfolio and pipeline – shaping how BMS engages with the UK medical community and ensuring our science is communicated with accuracy, integrity, and impact. • Driving UK medical strategy – developing and executing field tactical plans and scientific activities in collaboration with the Field Medical team, contributing to brand teams at both UK and worldwide level, • Building scientific credibility externally – engaging with healthcare professionals, serving as a trusted source of clinical and scientific expertise in your therapy area, and representing BMS at a level that reflects the quality of our science, • Supporting HTA and market access – collaborating with health economics colleagues and representing Medical Affairs at Health Technology Assessment meetings, helping to build the evidence case that enables patient access to our medicines, • Leading publications and evidence generation – managing publications, contributing to real‑world evidence initiatives and supporting compassionate use programmes that extend access to patients outside of formal trial settings, • Enabling the commercial organisation – providing clinical and scientific training to the sales force so that they can communicate the value of our medicines compliantly, accurately and with genuine scientific grounding, • Acting as medical signatory – taking named responsibility for therapy area materials, ensuring full compliance with the ABPI Code of Practice and internal procedures and upholding the ethical standards that define how BMS operates in the UK, • Shaping pipeline readiness – playing an active role in enhancing the value of pipeline assets as they move through development, contributing medical insight that helps BMS bring the right products to the right patients faster, • Launch experience at a company that knows how to launch – BMS has a strong track record of bringing genuinely innovative oncology medicines to market. This role offers real, hands‑on launch and project management experience — the kind that is career‑defining for a medical professional moving deeper into the commercial pharmaceutical space., • Global connectivity from a UK base – You’ll be an active member of worldwide medical and brand teams – bringing the UK perspective to global strategy and bringing global intelligence back to the UK market. That international exposure, combined with a strong local role, is a rare and genuinely valuable combination., • Clinical relevance without the clinical treadmill – Your clinical knowledge doesn’t become redundant here – it becomes your competitive advantage. Whether you’re engaging with oncologists, contributing to HTA submissions, or shaping medical strategy, your understanding of what patients and clinicians actually experience is what makes you effective. You stay close to the science. You stay close to the medicine. You just reach further., • HTA and health economics exposure – If you want to understand the full value chain of a medicine — not just its clinical profile, but how it’s assessed, priced, and accessed in the UK market — this role gives you that. Working alongside health economics colleagues on HTA submissions is a sophisticated, high‑impact skill set that strengthens your profile considerably., • Real accountability – and the autonomy that comes with it – You’ll be a named medical signatory. You’ll own strategy and scientific activities for your products. You’ll be trusted to exercise judgement, maintain compliance, and represent the company with integrity. For someone with strong personal accountability and a genuine sense of purpose, that kind of ownership is energising rather than daunting., • A hybrid model that actually works – Up to 50% remote working means you get the flexibility to structure your working week in a way that suits your life – without losing the collaboration, energy, and relationships that make a role like this rewarding. Our Uxbridge head office is a well‑connected, professional environment. The rest of the time, you work where you work best., • A company that takes Medical Affairs seriously – At BMS, Medical Affairs isn’t a support function – it’s a strategic driver. The science of our portfolio demands it, our approach to patient engagement requires it, and our culture values it. You’ll feel that difference from the moment you join., • You’ll hold an advanced scientific or clinical degree – ideally as a registered physician or UK registered pharmacist, though exceptional candidates with a strong scientific background are genuinely welcomed., • You’ll bring Medical Affairs experience, preferably in oncology or haematology, along with a solid understanding of the ABPI Code of Practice and experience in the review and approval of promotional and non‑promotional materials. Exposure to HTA, product launches, real‑world evidence or compassionate use programmes will strengthen your application considerably., • Beyond the credentials: you think strategically, you communicate with clarity and honesty, you thrive in a fast‑paced matrix environment, and you hold yourself to a high ethical standard. You care about the science, you care about the patients it serves, and you bring that passion to everything you do. We hire for skills and capabilities, not just credentials – if this role excites you, but doesn’t perfectly match your resume, we encourage you to apply anyway. Where you work matters – because collaboration, innovation and patient impact happen in many settings. Our roles are structured across four work models: site‑essential, site‑by‑design, field‑based and remote‑by‑design. The model assigned to this role is based on its core responsibilities.
