Assistant Quality Manager Based in Rochdale, Lancashire Job ref: AZ /64730 Salary: up to £50,000 subject to experience Responsible to: Quality / Process Manager Given the current day-to-day requirements in the business, a strategy to introduce new accreditation levels and the fact of introducing a new moulding process at the end of 2026, our client has elected to cover a few bases by introducing this role now. Once proven as a valued contributor, there may be the opportunity to become the full time Quality Manger, offering the potential of promotion. This will hopefully enable the successful candidate to take a longer-term view of the opportunity, as the current incumbent will be retiring within 18 months or so. Main purpose of job: Quality engineering duties in support of operations and new product introduction. Assisting in the development, running and management of the integrated management systems across the business. Assisting in the day-to-day management of the quality team across all sites. Main responsibilities: You will be the lead in establishing / improving product and process quality standards and methodologies for new and existing products and processes with the manufacturing team, customers, and suppliers. Key to the development, introduction and approval of new products and processes both internally and externally as part of a new product introduction team. Be the first point of contact for customer quality concerns and the lead, in investigating and resolving the issues including the tracking of them through to financial closure and reporting. Carry out customer and supplier visits in line with the needs of the business and customer requirements. Lead the process owners and stakeholders in the process mapping and development of documentation for transactional work instructions and manufacturing standard operation instructions. Carry out and assist in managing internal and external audits in support of the quality manager in line with the audit plan and as required to support new product introduction and purchasing activities. Monitoring and review of customer score cards; the develop data gathering processes for the analysis and reporting of the business key performance indicators to the senior management team. Education & Experience: An engineering-based degree / HND or equivalent qualification, or substantial experience in the plastics manufacturing industry. ISO9001 / 14001 qualified auditor Trained and practitioner in the IATF core quality tools. Proven hands-on performance and deliverables in a quality engineer / manager role focused on product and process improvements. Operated in a manufacturing tier one organisation into major automotive / blue chip customers. Experience of managing a semi-skilled team to achieve improvements. Strong capability in defining data collection systems, analysis and reporting. High level of IT skills across Microsoft platforms, ERP systems and customer websites / portals. Skills & Qualities: A strong, calm and measured character. Self driven leader. Data driven decisive decision maker. Detail conscious. Excellent communication skills with at all levels (internal and external). Demonstrable familiarity with the processes such as injection moulding, paint finishing, assembly work. Passport holder, full UK driving license and ability to travel. Proven existing documented right to work in the UK. Support the wider Finance & Admin team with general clerical duties; answering and directing incoming calls for the wider business, as well as attending to any work directed or requested by line manager. What you will need to succeed: Maintain and improve integrity of financial controls, through reconciliations and Accounts Receivable, looking for new ways to make improvements and changes. Process Cashsafe requests by preparing currency as specified, assigning to the requestee, notifying the user for collection, and reviewing upon return, resolving any discrepancies, with a view to return to stock and reassign as available. Balancing between day to day tasks/responsibilities and ad hoc requests. During busy and high holiday periods, or absences support other areas within finance. Track, source approval and process business expenses for Russian and Malaysian. Travelling to post cheques and cash at NatWest, Oldham. Weekly review and reconcile accounts at month end/ year of NatWest EUR, USD, GBP and SIBA, managing discrepancies, ensuring accuracy. Run biweekly payment runs for EUR, USD and GBP. During month/year end complete and close the Cash Book and the Purchase Ledger on SYSPRO. Update and maintain the prepayments database on a monthly basis. Draft, review and update departmental SOPs/workflows on a quarterly basis. Ensure effective compliance, meeting internal and external financial and auditing requirements. Proven accountancy experience in a similar role is essential, holding a qualification is desirable. Team player, able to prioritise daily tasks with the capability to be resourceful and proactive in dealing with issues that may arise.
