Maintenance Engineer – Electrical Bias 📍 Barnsley 💷 £40,000 – £50,000 per annum (DOE) 🕒 Full-time | Permanent We’re seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias) to join a busy industrial manufacturing environment in Barnsley. This is a key role focused on ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of site equipment through effective planned and reactive maintenance. You’ll be part of a hands-on engineering team where your expertise will directly contribute to improving equipment uptime, reliability, and overall site performance. What you’ll be doing • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on electrical systems and machinery, • Responding to breakdowns and diagnosing electrical and mechanical faults, • Reading and working from electrical and mechanical drawings, • Maintaining and repairing a range of industrial equipment including:, • Overhead cranes and jibs, • Plasma and gas cutting machinery, • Sawing and drilling equipment, • Welding and grinding equipment, • Forklifts and sideloaders, • Carrying out mechanical maintenance tasks such as bearing and gear changes, • Ensuring all work is completed in line with Health & Safety procedures, • Working independently and taking ownership of maintenance tasks, • Supporting subcontractor coordination when required, • Contributing to continuous improvement and reliability initiatives What we’re looking for • Electrical engineering background within a maintenance environment, • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent), • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (essential), • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills, • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, • Experience working with industrial machinery and plant equipment, • Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices, • Self-motivated, practical, and proactive approach to work What’s on offer • Salary £40,000 – £50,000 (depending on experience), • Company pension scheme, • Sick pay scheme, • Private health plan, • Cycle to work scheme, • Share save scheme, • Option to purchase additional holiday Why apply?
