Senior Tooling Design Engineer Location: Derby (SC Clearance required or eligible) Salary: Competitive + Benefits Sector: Advanced Engineering / Manufacturing / Defence We’re working with a highly respected engineering and manufacturing organisation that is investing heavily in new product development and advanced technology. They are looking for a Senior Tooling Design Engineer to own design activities and deliver robust engineering solutions that meet customer and regulatory requirements. You will: • Design tooling, jigs, fixtures, and mechanical components to customer requirements, • Produce outline and detailed design concepts, • Identify and resolve engineering challenges with effective technical solutions, • Evaluate product performance, reliability, and safety, • Modify and refine designs to meet project and customer requirements, • Estimate project scope, budgets, and timelines, • Manage engineering risk and opportunity throughout the project lifecycle, • Prepare technical reports, calculations, and design documentation, • Support continuous improvement and development of new engineering methods, • Collaborate with internal teams and support junior engineers What We’re Looking For • Experience in a Senior Design Engineer or Mechanical Design Engineer role, • Strong background in valves, pressure vessels, structural design, tooling, or lifting equipment (or similar heavy engineering environments), • Proven experience delivering mechanical engineering projects, • Good understanding of design codes, standards, and safety legislation, • Ability to manage full design project lifecycles (requirements, concept, detailed design), • Strong knowledge of engineering materials, • Experience with 3D CAD (Siemens NX or similar), • Experience using PLM systems (Teamcentre or similar), • Familiarity with engineering analysis tools (MathCAD, ANSYS, ABAQUS or similar), • Engineering degree (BEng or equivalent), • SC Clearance or eligibility to obtain it, • Experience supporting or mentoring team members Personal Attributes • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, • Leadership capability and team-focused mindset, • Commitment to delivering quality work on time and within budget, • Professional integrity and accountability, • Broad technical awareness beyond core discipline, • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently Why Apply? • Work on complex and technically challenging engineering projects, • Join a stable and growing engineering organisation, • Strong exposure to safety-critical and high-spec mechanical design, • Supportive engineering culture with career development opportunities, • Competitive salary and long-term progression, • Opportunity to work across the full engineering lifecycle Interested?
