Job DescriptionJob Title: Care Assistant Location: Westminister Hours: Full-time / Part-time (as required) Reports to: Senior Care Assistant / Registered Manager Job Purpose The Care Assistant is responsible for delivering high-quality, person-centred care to residents within the care home. The role focuses on promoting dignity, independence, wellbeing, and safety while supporting residents with their daily living needs in a residential setting. Key ResponsibilitiesPersonal Care & Daily Living Support • Provide support with personal care including washing, bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting., • Assist residents with mobility and safe transfers using appropriate equipment., • Support residents with eating and drinking where required., • Promote independence and encourage residents to do as much as possible for themselves.Health & Wellbeing, • Monitor residents’ physical and emotional wellbeing., • Record and report any changes in condition to senior staff., • Support residents with medication administration (where trained and authorised)., • Assist with attending medical appointments within the home when required.Care Planning & Documentation, • Follow individual care plans and risk assessments., • Maintain accurate, clear, and up-to-date care records., • Contribute to care plan reviews and report observations.Safeguarding & Safety, • Safeguard residents from abuse, neglect, or harm., • Follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns immediately., • Adhere to infection prevention and control policies., • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.Communication & Teamwork, • Build positive relationships with residents and their families., • Work collaboratively with colleagues, nurses, and management., • Attend handovers and team meetings.Activities & Social Engagement, • Support residents to participate in social and recreational activities., • Promote community involvement within the home., • Provide companionship and emotional support.Person SpecificationEssential Criteria, • Previous experience in a care home or healthcare setting (preferred but not essential)., • Compassionate, patient, and caring nature., • Good communication skills (written and verbal)., • Ability to work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays., • Understanding of safeguarding and dignity in care., • Willingness to undertake training.Desirable Criteria, • NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (or working towards)., • Experience supporting elderly residents or those living with dementia., • Knowledge of infection control procedures.Key Skills & Attributes, • Empathy and kindness, • Reliability and punctuality, • Ability to work as part of a team, • Observant and attentive to detail, • Professional and respectful attitudeWhat We Offer, • Comprehensive induction and ongoing training, • Supportive team environment, • Free DBS (where applicable), • Pension scheme, • Career progression opportunities
