SEN Construction & Woodwork Teacher (QTS Required) - Full-Time - Immediate Start Location: NE4, Newcastle upon TynePosition: SEN Construction & Woodwork TeacherContract: Full-Time (5 Days per Week)Start Date: ASAPSalary: Competitive, dependent on experience (£140-£170 per day) We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and supportive Special Educational Needs (SEN) Secondary School in the NE4 area of Newcastle upon Tyne. The school is seeking a passionate and dedicated Construction & Woodwork Teacher with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) to join their team on a full-time basis with an immediate start. This is an excellent opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of young people with additional learning needs, helping them to develop practical skills, confidence, independence, and pathways towards future employment within a supportive educational environment. Key Responsibilities • Deliver engaging and differentiated Construction and Woodwork lessons to secondary-aged students with a range of Special Educational Needs., • Teach practical skills including woodworking, joinery, basic construction techniques, tool usage, and workshop safety., • Adapt teaching methods, resources, and practical activities to meet individual learning requirements., • Monitor, assess, and record student progress effectively., • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SENCOs, therapists, and wider school staff., • Maintain a safe, positive, inclusive, and structured workshop environment., • Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed and model best practice at all times., • Contribute to EHCP targets and individual learning plans where appropriate.Essential Requirements, • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential., • Experience teaching Construction, Woodwork, Design Technology, or a related vocational subject at secondary level., • Knowledge and understanding of Special Educational Needs and effective SEN teaching strategies., • Strong understanding of workshop health and safety requirements., • Excellent communication, organisational, and classroom management skills., • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.Compliance Requirements All applicants must: • Hold an Enhanced Child and Adult DBS Certificate or be willing to apply for one immediately., • Have the right to work in the UK., • Provide satisfactory professional references and complete all required pre-employment checks.What the School Offers, • A supportive and collaborative SEN environment., • Opportunities for ongoing professional development., • Well-equipped workshops and specialist support staff., • The chance to make a lasting impact on the education, wellbeing, and future employability of young people.
