MEs will provide information to local Child Death Overview panels in respect of all child deaths which are not being investigated by the coroner. MEs will act in accordance with Equalities and Human Rights legislation and the organisation’s Equality and Diversity policies. MEs must avoid any potential conflicts of interest. In cases where they have a personal or professional relationship with the deceased person, next of kin/informant, or with the attending doctor preparing the MCCD, they must transfer any scrutiny of the death to another ME. MEs are expected to take responsibility for their own continuing professional development in accordance with any standards for maintaining a GMC licence to practice and membership of any relevant professional body. The ME role should be included in the whole practice appraisal. MEs should maintain a Personal Development Plan in agreement with their appraiser. There will be opportunities to attend local and national activities to maintain up to date knowledge. MEs may need to use a computer for prolonged periods of time. The ME system operates within a reactive area of service delivery interacting with people in variable degrees of distress and demonstrating potentially irrational/unpredictable behaviour. This post will involve in-patient, out-patient and on-call emergency work at King’s Mill Hospital as well as out-patient work at Newark Hospital. Our department currently has three base wards for in-patients at King’s Mill Hospital with an eight-bedded respiratory support unit to allow acute and chronic non-invasive ventilation. The over-riding purpose is to support the provision of the highest quality patient care through personal actions and continuous improvement. Respiratory outpatient clinics are held at King’s Mill and Newark Hospitals as well in the Ashfield and Mansfield Community Hospitals. As well as general Respiratory out-patient clinics, we have also sub-specialist clinics for Lung Cancer, Interstitial Lung Disease, Sleep/Ventilators, COPD, TB and Bronchiectasis. We sees approximately 2600 new outpatients per year and over 6400 follow up patients. There are bronchoscopy sessions at both King’s Mill Hospital and in Newark. We also perform Endobronchial ultrasound, Thoracoscopy and indwelling pleural catheters at King’s Mill. We support pulmonary rehabilitation and oxygen services at three sites across mid-Nottinghamshire. We have excellent clinical support from 10 respiratory physiologists with access to full pulmonary function tests, exhaled nitric oxide, exercise tests and muscle strength tests. There are also facilities for in-patient and out-patient sleep studies, with 4000 patients under follow-up for sleep disorders. We also organises the community oxygen assessment programme. We are well served by the Radiology department with 2 consultants who specialise in Chest Radiology. We have weekly support from the tertiary oncology centre in Nottingham with 2 oncologists and a thoracic surgeon attending our local MDT. We have 3 lung cancer specialist nurses and 3 respiratory specialist nurses. We have an established research portfolio including recruitment into lung cancer and COPD and ILD and COPD studies with support from a responsive Research and Innovation department. Inspect and test electrical installations in accordance with BS 7671, current guidance, client requirements and company procedures. Identify, code and clearly record observations, defects and non-compliances, supported by accurate test results and appropriate evidence. Complete remedial works arising from EICRs, including fault finding, repairs, replacements and minor alterations as required. Verify completed remedial works through appropriate inspection and testing and issue accurate certification within the required timescales. Plan and manage daily workloads efficiently, including work delivered on an agreed fixed-price basis, without compromising safety, compliance or quality. Complete EICR certificates, schedules, remedial records, job reports and other documentation accurately and on time. Liaise with clients, colleagues, contractors, the helpdesk and management team to coordinate access, progress and completion of works. Identify and report urgent risks, additional works, access limitations or other issues that may affect safety, compliance or delivery. Maintain test instruments, tools, equipment, materials and company property in a safe and serviceable condition, including required calibration records. Undertake a significant amount of out-of-hours and evening work, and occasional Sunday travel or working, as required by client access arrangements.
