Estimator \n Location \n Midlands \n Job Type \n Permanent | Full Time \n Overview \n We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join a growing construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of construction and maintenance projects, supporting tender submissions, procurement activities, and project delivery. \n This is a key commercial role requiring strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with operational, design, commercial, and procurement teams. \n Key Responsibilities \n\n • Produce detailed cost estimates covering labour, materials, plant, subcontractors, overheads, and preliminaries.\n, • Review and analyse tender documentation including drawings, specifications, schedules, and scope of works.\n, • Identify project risks, opportunities, exclusions, and assumptions during the tender process.\n, • Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.\n, • Collaborate with design, commercial, and operational teams to ensure estimates align with technical requirements and project programmes.\n, • Provide advice on cost risks, contingencies, value engineering opportunities, and alternative construction methods.\n, • Support post-tender negotiations and ensure a smooth handover of estimating information to project delivery teams.\n, • Maintain estimating databases, cost libraries, and benchmarking information to improve pricing accuracy and consistency.\n, • Participate in tender review meetings and present pricing strategies to senior stakeholders where required.\n\n Requirements \n Essential \n\n • HNC/HND, degree, or equivalent experience in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.\n, • Proven experience in an estimating role within the construction or built environment sector.\n, • Strong numerical, commercial, and analytical skills.\n, • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and construction estimating software.\n, • Good understanding of construction methods, materials, and associated costs.\n, • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.\n, • Full right to work in the UK.\n\n Desirable \n\n • Membership of, or working towards, a professional body such as RICS, CIOB, or ICES.\n, • Experience across sectors including commercial, industrial, infrastructure, refurbishment, repairs, maintenance, voids, or asset management.\n, • Knowledge of BIM, digital take-off software, and data-driven estimating platforms.\n, • Experience preparing tenders for public sector clients or major framework agreements.\n, • Good understanding of current market trends, supplier networks, and procurement strategies.\n\n What's on Offer \n\n • Competitive salary.\n, • Company vehicle or vehicle allowance.\n, • Annual leave plus public holidays.\n, • Life assurance.\n, • Employee discounts.\n, • Cycle to Work scheme.\n, • Holiday purchase scheme.\n, • Learning and development opportunities, including professional qualifications and training.\n, • Employee referral programme.\n, • Health and wellbeing support, including an Employee Assistance Programme.\n, • A collaborative and inclusive working environment with opportunities for career progression.\n\n About the Role \n This is an excellent opportunity for an Estimator looking to develop their career within a well-established construction business.
