Job Description We're seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Designer to join our team and support the creation of high-accuracy fire alarm systems. You'll work on diverse projects, from residential high-rises to commercial spaces, ensuring compliance with local codes like FDNY and Nassau County Fire Marshal requirements. This role involves close collaboration with our president and clients to deliver top-tier designs using AutoCAD. Key Responsibilities • Design and draft fire alarm system drawings, including layouts over floor plans, riser diagrams, circuit designations, survivability levels, symbol legends, sequence of operations matrices, installation notes, and audibility criteria., • Perform battery size and voltage drop calculations, as-built riser diagrams., • Digitize plans from hard copies or PDFs into AutoCAD format., • Assist with additional services such as field surveys, pre-tests, defect certifications, , and filings for variances or post-approval amendments (PAA)., • Coordinate with mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection plans to ensure seamless integration., • Proven experience in fire alarm design and engineering (3+ years preferred)., • Expertise in AutoCAD is a must; proficiency in creating detailed, compliant drawings., • Knowledge of fire safety codes and regulations (e.g., FDNY, NYC DOB, Nassau County)., • Strong understanding of fire alarm components, including panels, devices, circuits, and survivability., • Ability to work independently in a small firm environment, with excellent attention to detail., • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field preferred; certifications (e.g., NICET) a plus., • Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Office and basic project management software., • Competitive salary with performance-based bonuses., • Flexible hybrid work options., • Opportunity to work on impactful projects in a growing firm.

The goal of this project is to create novel, rigorous, and multi-step engineering problems that challenge cutting-edge AI models—specifically those that cause the AI to fail or demonstrate reasoning limits—while supporting the improvement and training of advanced AI systems. This is a short-term, high-impact, fully remote opportunity for engineering professionals eager to apply their deep technical expertise to frontier AI research, with the possibility of project continuation based on performance. ## 2\. Key Responsibilities - Design original, advanced engineering problems that require creative reasoning, multi-domain integration, and precise analytical thinking. - Evaluate AI-generated engineering solutions for technical accuracy, completeness, and adherence to physical and practical constraints. - Identify logical gaps, incorrect modeling assumptions, or computational inaccuracies. - Provide complete, clear, and well-documented solutions and derivations using LaTeX formatting for equations and schematics. - Maintain high standards of technical precision, rigor, and conceptual depth. ## 3\. Required Qualifications Note: Applicants must be proficient in creating and formatting technical documents using LaTeX. You are a strong fit for this project if you have one or more of the following: - Advanced degree (or equivalent experience) in mechanical, electrical, civil, aerospace, or chemical engineering, or a related field. - Experience designing or grading complex analytical or design-focused problems (university level or professional exams). - Participation in or mentorship for engineering design or modeling competitions is preferred(e.g., Formula SAE, Shell Eco-marathon, ASME/IEEE/AIChE contests, robotics challenges, or design sprints). - Research or teaching experience involving applied problem formulation and quantitative modeling.
