Job Description Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our gastroenterology team. The RN will play a crucial role in patient care across clinic visits and procedural settings, including the endoscopy suite. This is a hands‐on position with responsibilities spanning patient assessment, monitoring, patient education, and post‐procedure recovery. This is a part-time position, 2-3 days per week, approximately 20- 25 hours a week. Key Responsibilities: • Perform pre‐procedure assessments (medical history, vital signs, medication review, lab checks), • Prepare patients for GI procedures (IV insertion, sedation prep, patient instructions), • Monitor patients during procedures and assist physicians / anesthesiologists as needed, • Provide post‐procedure recovery care: monitor vital signs, assess for complications, ensure safe discharge, • Administer medications / sedation adjuncts per protocol / physician orders, • Triage patient calls or messages, escalate urgent issues to physicians, • Educate patients and caregivers on procedural prep, aftercare, diet, and medications, • Coordinate care: manage referrals, lab orders, diagnostic testing, prior authorizations, • Document thoroughly and accurately in the EMR system, • Ensure endoscopy suite readiness: equipment, sterilization, supplies, safety protocols, • Participate in quality improvement, safety audits, infection control initiatives, • Mentor and collaborate with support staff (LPNs, medical assistants, techs) Required Qualifications: • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State, • Graduation from accredited nursing program (ADN minimum; BSN preferred), • Current BLS certification (AHA or equivalent), • At least 1–2 years of clinical nursing experience, ideally in procedural settings or GI / endoscopy, • Competence in patient assessment, IV insertion, monitoring, recovery care, • Familiarity with GI procedures, sedation practices, and post‐procedure care, • Strong communication and patient education skills, • Experience with electronic health records (EMR) and clinical documentation, • Ability to thrive in a fast‐paced, procedural environment Preferred / Additional Qualifications: • Certification in endoscopy nursing or GI specialty, • ACLS certification, • Familiarity with conscious sedation protocols, • Experience with quality improvement / infection control programs
