You will use your venipuncture skills, including straight needle techniques, to collect and process specimens, enter patient information into the internal system, and support accurate diagnostic testing. The role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong customer service skills who is comfortable with computers and data entry. Responsibilities • Greet patients as they arrive at the patient service center and complete initial intake and data entry in the internal system., • Perform venipuncture and blood draws, typically 20–40 draws per day, using straight needles and butterfly needles as appropriate., • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures and test requirements., • Label specimens accurately and completely to ensure proper identification and traceability., • Centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by specific test orders., • Process specimens, including preparing them for transport or analysis, and ensure proper documentation., • Record maintenance data and perform decontamination tasks in accordance with safety and quality protocols., • Update and maintain accurate patient information and records in the system during and after each patient interaction., • Provide courteous, professional customer service to a patient population that is primarily adults, including geriatrics., • Demonstrate proper phlebotomy techniques, including the use of straight needles and butterfly needles, in line with training and procedures., • Support additional laboratory-related tasks such as accessioning and specimen collection workflows as trained., • Follow all established procedures for specimen collection, handling, and documentation to support reliable diagnostic results. Essential Skills • At least 1 year of phlebotomy experience, with 2 or more years preferred., • Proficiency in venipuncture and blood drawing, including experience using straight needles., • Ability to perform 20–40 blood draws per day in a high-volume setting., • Strong data entry skills to accurately enter and update patient information in the internal system., • Demonstrated customer service skills and ability to interact professionally with patients., • Comfort and competence with computers and basic software used for patient records and specimen tracking., • Experience with specimen collection, labeling, and processing according to established procedures., • Ability to use a centrifuge and handle specimens that require splitting and freezing., • Minimum education of a high school diploma or GED., • as a Phlebotomy Technician or Medical Assistant with phlebotomy responsibilities. Additional Skills & Qualifications • More than 2 years of hands-on phlebotomy experience in a clinical or laboratory setting., • Medical Assistant (MA) experience, particularly in environments with regular blood collection., • Familiarity with CPT-related workflows and diagnostic lab processes., • Experience working with adult and geriatric patient populations., • Bilingual communication skills to support a diverse patient base., • Comfort working in a high-throughput diagnostic lab environment with 30–50 patients per day., • Willingness to learn and perform additional tasks such as accessioning and expanded specimen processing as training progresses., • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized procedures consistently. Work Environment The role is based in a patient service center located in Middle Village, Queens, serving a primarily adult population, including many geriatric patients. Phlebotomists typically see approximately 30–50 patients per day in a fast-paced, outpatient setting. You will work with standard phlebotomy and laboratory equipment, including straight needles, butterfly needles, collection tubes, labeling systems, and centrifuges, as well as computer systems for data entry and record updates. The schedule for this position is part-time at approximately 25 hours per week, with shifts such as Monday–Thursday and every Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or Tuesday–Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with opportunities to pick up additional hours. The environment emphasizes reliable specimen handling, accurate documentation, and professional, patient-centered service, with no night shifts, no weekend nights, and no floating between locations required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middle Village, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
