Job DescriptionChief Estimator - Job DescriptionJob Summary We are seeking an experienced Chief Estimator to lead the estimating function and oversee high-value, complex bids across multiple projects. This leadership role is responsible for managing a team of estimators, ensuring accurate cost projections, and supporting strategic decision-making to improve project profitability and win rates. The Chief Estimator will collaborate with internal teams, evaluate project risks, and ensure that proposals align with technical standards, financial goals, and operational capacity. Key Responsibilities * Lead and manage the estimating department, ensuring quality, consistency, and timely completion of project bids. * Prepare, review, and approve detailed cost estimates for construction and service-related projects. * Oversee multiple bids simultaneously, ensuring alignment with company profitability and performance goals. * Conduct regular estimating meetings to review bid progress, priorities, and resource allocation. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve accuracy, efficiency, and success rate of bids. * Review project schedules, indirect costs, staffing plans, and execution strategies. * Maintain CRM systems, track bid results, and support business development efforts. * Coordinate project handoff meetings between estimating and operations teams for awarded contracts. * Obtain pricing from vendors and subcontractors for materials, labor, and equipment. * Identify project risks, clarify scope gaps, and develop pricing strategies. * Improve estimating processes by leveraging historical cost data and performance metrics. * Maintain professional communication with internal teams, clients, and partners. * Ensure confidentiality and compliance with professional and ethical standards. Qualifications * 7+ years of estimating experience within commercial and/or industrial construction. * Minimum 3+ years of leadership or team management experience. * Strong understanding of material pricing, labor costing, and bid preparation. * Ability to manage estimates for projects ranging from $25,000 to $5,000,000. * Proficiency in cost estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. * Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills. * Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. * Excellent communication and decision-making skills.
