JOB DESCRIPTION Summary/ Objective East Side House (ESH) provides high-quality, year-round programming in NYCHA community centers and public schools, serving youth and families through education, workforce readiness, recreation, and community engagement. Reporting to the Senior and/or Department Director, the Program Director oversees the development, implementation, and supervision of Early Childhood Education & Elementary Division. This includes daily operations, staff management, compliance, and creating safe, inclusive, and responsive environments that promote positive outcomes. As a member of the Early Childhood Education & Elementary Division, the Program Director is expected to lead dynamic, age-appropriate programming for Elementary age participants and community members. This role includes direct supervision of the Assistant Program Director, Group Leaders, Activity Specialist, and other frontline staff. It requires regular collaboration with Human Resources, Finance, IT, and other East Side House departments. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Senior Director and /or Department Director, the Program Director will: • Provide strategic leadership and day-to-day oversight of youth and adult programs, including evenings, weekends, and summer., • Recruit, hire, schedule, onboard, and supervise full-time and part-time staff., • Monitor performance and ensure compliance with DYCD goals, quality standards, and contractual requirements., • Conduct staff evaluations, provide ongoing coaching, and lead monthly professional development and team meetings., • Oversee the design and delivery of engaging, age-appropriate programming focused on academics, recreation, workforce readiness, and cultural enrichment., • Ensure compliance with DOH School-Aged Child Care and Summer Day regulations, including quarterly inspections., • Train staff on safety protocols and ensure emergency preparedness., • Track attendance and maintain accurate records using DYCD Connect and internal systems., • Manage CACFP Food Program compliance and documentation., • Serve as the main point of contact for NYCHA, DYCD, schools, families, and community partners., • Build relationships with residents, tenant associations, youth councils, and community stakeholders., • Conduct quarterly community assessments and incorporate participant feedback into program planning., • Plan and execute four community events and a series of family workshops annually., • Cultivate at least three new partnerships each year to expand program offerings., • Manage the program budget, process purchase orders, and submit reports on time., • Represent the program in required meetings and maintain regular communication with NYCHA and DYCD., • Collaborate with ESH colleagues to coordinate events, share best practices, and support agency-wide initiatives., • Perform other duties as assigned. This is a hands-on field leadership position requiring an experienced supervisor who can manage installation crews, coordinate union and non-union labor, communicate effectively with remote Project Managers and internal teams, and take ownership of day-to-day site execution. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in architectural metal, glass, structural/ornamental metal, signage, or specialty architectural installations and understands how to take a project from drawings and field conditions through successful installation and completion. This position requires frequent travel between active project sites. The Site Supervisor will serve as the primary field point of contact between installers, Project Managers, clients, subcontractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Field & Installation Supervision • Supervise and coordinate daily installation activities across active project sites., • Direct installers and field crews to ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and according to schedule., • Manage both union and non-union installers, depending on project requirements., • Assign daily work, establish priorities, and ensure crews understand project expectations and installation requirements., • Maintain accountability among field personnel and ensure work is completed efficiently., • Provide hands-on field leadership and assist crews with resolving installation challenges when necessary. Crew & Subcontractor Management • Coordinate installers, subcontractors, vendors, and other trades working at project sites., • Ensure adequate manpower is available based on project schedules and installation requirements., • Monitor crew productivity and quality of workmanship., • Address performance, attendance, communication, and field coordination issues., • Build productive working relationships with installers and ensure crews remain focused on project deadlines. Site Coordination & Problem-Solving • Serve as the company's primary field representative on assigned projects., • Coordinate installation schedules with General Contractors, Construction Managers, clients, architects, and other trades., • Identify and resolve field conflicts before they impact schedules., • Make practical and informed field decisions while keeping Project Management informed., • Coordinate deliveries, staging, equipment access, material handling, and installation sequencing., • Ensure sites are prepared for upcoming installation activities. Quality Control • Inspect materials and completed installations for quality and compliance with approved drawings and specifications., • Identify deficiencies and coordinate corrective action., • Maintain high standards for fit, finish, alignment, appearance, and overall workmanship., • Document installation progress and completed work through photographs and field reports. Safety & Compliance • Ensure crews comply with all applicable job-site safety requirements and company policies., • Conduct or participate in toolbox talks and site safety meetings when required., • Ensure installers use appropriate PPE and follow safe installation practices., • Coordinate with General Contractors and site safety personnel regarding project-specific safety requirements., • Immediately report accidents, incidents, unsafe conditions, and safety concerns. Project Documentation • Maintain accurate daily records of manpower, installation progress, materials, delays, site conditions, and outstanding issues., • Submit daily/weekly field updates to Project Management., • Document change conditions and additional work that may affect project cost or schedule., • Maintain organized photographs and records for each assigned project. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • 10+ years of relevant field experience in architectural metal, glass, structural/ornamental metal, signage, specialty fabrication, or related construction installations., • Significant experience supervising field installation crews., • Strong hands-on understanding of architectural metal and/or glass installation., • Experience managing multiple installers, subcontractors, and trades on active construction sites., • Experience working on commercial construction projects., • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, shop drawings, blueprints, and specifications., • Strong understanding of field measurements, installation sequencing, fabrication requirements, and construction tolerances., • Strong leadership and people-management skills with the ability to direct experienced field crews and get work completed., • Excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with both field personnel and remote teams., • Comfortable using technology for daily communication and reporting, including Zoom, email, smartphones/tablets, digital drawings, photographs, and project-management systems., • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities., • Ability to work independently and make appropriate field decisions., • Ability and willingness to travel frequently between project sites throughout New York and outside New York when required., • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Experience working on New York City commercial construction projects., • Experience coordinating union and non-union labor., • Experience working with architectural metal, miscellaneous metals, ornamental metals, structural steel, glass, glazing, signage, railings, stairs, canopies, storefronts, or other specialty architectural products., • Familiarity with NYC construction practices, site requirements, and General Contractor/Construction Manager coordination., • OSHA safety training/certification., • SST or other NYC-required safety training/certifications, where applicable., • Experience with construction/project-management software and digital field-reporting tools., • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred but relevant field experience may substitute for formal education. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR We are looking for someone who is not simply an office-based Project Manager. This position requires a strong field professional who is comfortable being on active construction sites, managing installers, resolving problems, coordinating with multiple parties, and taking responsibility for getting installations completed. The successful candidate will be someone who can lead people, communicate clearly, stay organized, use technology effectively, and get the job done while maintaining safety, quality, and project schedules. TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS This is a field-based, travel-intensive position. The Site Supervisor will travel frequently between project sites throughout New York City, the New York metropolitan area, and other locations as project needs require. Candidates must be comfortable working at different project locations and adjusting schedules based on active installation requirements.
