Job Description JOB TITLE: SHIFT SUPERVISOR FLSA: NON-EXEMPT DIVISION: SERVICES- SECURITY REPORT TO: SECURITY MANAGER LOCATIONS: YONKERS, NY SALARY: $24.00/ HOUR SUMMARY: Perform responsible work involving a variety of specialized assignment in a homeless family (with children) shelter; does related work as required. Shift Supervisor reports to the Security Manager. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Train new security employees in all aspects of the facility., • Maintain level of expectation of requirements for security office and traffic intervention., • Assist Facility Manager, preparing and executing fire drills (as well as fires) or in other cases., • Make rounds randomly through the facility (interior and exterior) for surveillance of hazardous situations, trespassers, illegal activities, etc., • Respond by phone or in person to request for assistance form Shift Supervisors at other locations., • Complete assigned paper work responsibilities i.e.,log, incident reports, CPS reports and all other reports., • Monitor reception area and security at front desk area daily., • Maintain safety and security of clients and staff., • Provide crisis intervention when needed., • Enforce drug free workplace policy and no smoking rules., • Attend and conduct various meetings and training’s as needed., • Back-up Security Manager as directed., • Check inventory of equipment daily., • Provided leadership in emergency situations within the security department., • Fulfills all job responsibilities of a Client Care Monitor., • Perform all related duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Associates Degree in social services, criminology or related field; or equivalent experience required. A valid N.Y.S Security Guard License, Fire Guard License, and certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI). Must possess a general knowledge of security systems. Ability to solve problems; ability to make decisions based on factual information a must. Knowledge of video surveillance and fire detection / alarm notification system a must. Shift Supervisor must own their own vehicle and have knowledge of public transportation system. A home phone number is mandatory. Must be flexible on days and hours of availability. Must have shelter knowledge and be familiar with CARES and DHS shelter protocols. Bilingual English/ Spanish preferred. Job Description JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: SHIFT SUPERVISOR FLSA: NON-EXEMPT DEPARTMENT: HOUSING AND SERVICES - SECURITY REPORTS TO: SECURITY MANAGER LOCATION: QUEENS, NY SUMMARY: The Shift Supervisor is responsible for supervising, performing, and reporting work involving a variety of specialized assignments and security systems in our homeless shelter. Operations within our facility are 24 hours. This position requires face-to-face relief with mandatory overtime. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Train new security officers /residential aide employees in all aspects of the facility., • Supervise security staff during your assigned shift, assigning breaks, post assignments, and duties., • Monitor access control and ensure effective use of the magnetometer and x-ray machine., • Respond to incidents and utilize crisis management to protect the safety of the staff and clients, • Make rounds throughout the facility and external premises to prevent, detect, deter, and report hazardous situations, trespassers, and illegal activities., • Respond to emergencies in person throughout the building, and provide guidance and support to line staff and subordinates., • Conduct daily security and fire safety system inspections, • Fulfill all job responsibilities of a Safety Security Officer in their absence., • Maintain the safety and security of clients and staff., • Provide crisis intervention when needed., • Assist the Security Manager in preparing and executing fire drills., • Oversee AWOL family property pack up, • Monitor logging of client property to ensure accuracy, • Ensure that all managers are kept aware of critical incidents on assigned shifts, • Review log book entries, incident reports, and critical administrative responsibilities on assigned shift, checking for errors and ensuring accuracy, • Attend various meetings and trainings as needed., • Check the inventory of all assigned equipment daily, and investigate any discrepancies., • Mandatory Overtime Required, • Perform all related duties as assigned. Requirements Key Responsibilities • Case Management & Client Support, • Complete initial and ongoing case management assessments., • Evaluate client strengths and needs across medical, psychological, social, financial, and employment domains., • Assist with scheduling medical, dental, and other ancillary appointments., • Provide support for clients applying for food assistance or managing FMLA/unemployment paperwork., • Help clients develop life skills including budgeting, communication, critical thinking, and personal care., • Assist with job searches, resume writing, and interview preparation., • Help clients manage finances and bill payments while in treatment., • Coordinate discharge planning and aftercare services, to include booking travel and locating appropriate step-down programming for outpatient programming and/or counseling services., • Arrange placement in halfway houses or aftercare facilities as needed., • Ensure continuity of care through proper linkage to ongoing services., • Community Resource Coordination, • Communicate with employers, landlords, probation officers, legal representatives, and family members., • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress, services provided, and discharge planning., • Uphold all policies regarding client confidentiality and documentation standards., • Maintain prompt and regular attendance., • Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary team members., • Support and uphold all organizational practices, policies, and ethical guidelines., • Valid State Driver’s License required., • Minimum of a High School Diploma; Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field preferred., • CPR certification required (or must be obtained within 30 days of hire)., • A minimum of 1 year of experience in substance abuse treatment or a related field preferred., • Strong communication skills with clients, team members, and supervisors., • Ability to maintain professionalism and appropriate boundaries., • Highly organized and detail-oriented., • Computer literacy and ability to complete accurate documentation., • Capacity to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team., • Positive attitude and high emotional intelligence.
