    We are looking for a reliable, organized, and hardworking Back of House Team Member to help keep our kitchen and production operations running smoothly. You will play an important role in preparing ingredients, maintaining food quality and safety standards, keeping the BOH clean and organized, supporting soft-serve production, and ensuring the front-of-house team always has what they need to provide an excellent guest experience. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys staying busy, working as part of a team, and taking pride in doing things the right way. RESPONSIBILITIES Food Preparation & Production Prepare ingredients, toppings, sauces, and other menu components according to established recipes and procedures Assist with daily soft-serve production and preparation Maintain consistency in recipes, portions, and presentation Follow all approved recipes and preparation procedures Properly label, date, store, and rotate food products Monitor ingredient levels and communicate low-stock items to management Assist with opening and closing BOH operations Food Safety & Sanitation Follow all NYC food safety and sanitation requirements Maintain proper food storage and temperature standards Follow allergen-control procedures Prevent cross-contact and cross-contamination Keep workstations, equipment, storage areas, and floors clean throughout the shift Complete required cleaning and sanitation tasks Properly wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes, utensils, equipment, and food-contact surfaces Follow daily, weekly, and deep-cleaning schedules Report food safety concerns, equipment issues, spills, pests, or maintenance problems immediately Inventory & Organization Receive and properly store deliveries Check deliveries for quality, quantity, and temperature when applicable Maintain an organized walk-in, refrigerator, freezer, dry storage, and prep areas Follow FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory rotation Assist with inventory counts and waste tracking Minimize food waste while maintaining quality and freshness Teamwork & Operations Communicate effectively with FOH and management Maintain a positive and respectful working environment Jump in wherever the team needs support Work efficiently during busy periods Follow all company SOPs and operational standards Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional kitchen at all times WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR Our ideal candidate is: Reliable and punctual Highly organized and detail-oriented Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment Comfortable standing and being active for extended periods Clean, responsible, and attentive to food safety A strong team player Able to follow recipes and procedures consistently Comfortable taking direction and receiving feedback Proactive and willing to jump in wherever needed Someone who takes pride in cleanliness and organization Friendly, respectful, and professional Excited to be part of a new business and help build something from the ground up Restaurant, café, bakery, food service, or kitchen experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right person.     Newark Food Factory, powered by Ideal Institute of Technology, is seeking a dependable and motivated Line Cook to join our culinary team. The Line Cook will prepare high-quality meals, maintain a clean and organized workstation, and support catering, special events, takeout, delivery, and culinary training activities. Key Responsibilities • Prepare and cook food according to recipes, portion standards, and instructions from the Head Chef., • Set up and stock assigned cooking stations before each shift., • Assist with catering orders, private events, takeout, and delivery preparation., • Follow proper food-handling, sanitation, and temperature-control procedures., • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including equipment, workstations, and storage areas., • Label, date, rotate, and properly store food products., • Monitor inventory and report low-stock items to the Head Chef., • Assist with receiving and storing food deliveries., • Minimize food waste and use ingredients responsibly., • Follow all Newark Food Factory safety policies and kitchen procedures., • Work cooperatively with chefs, kitchen staff, students, and event personnel., • Complete opening and closing duties as assigned., • Perform additional kitchen-related responsibilities when needed. Qualifications • Previous line cook, prep cook, restaurant, catering, or commercial kitchen experience is preferred., • Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen safety., • Ability to follow recipes and verbal instructions., • Strong attendance, punctuality, and teamwork skills., • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment., • Willingness to learn and accept feedback., • ServSafe Food Handler or ServSafe Manager certification is preferred or must be obtained within the required timeframe., • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Physical Requirements • Ability to stand for extended periods., • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds., • Ability to work around hot equipment, sharp utensils, and refrigerated areas., • Ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive kitchen tasks safely. Role and Responsibilities As a member of Citarella’s Seafood Team, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional guest service while maintaining deep knowledge of our premium seafood offerings. This position requires pride in product presentation, attention to safety and sanitation standards, and a strong sense of teamwork. You will be responsible for merchandising, product rotation, waste monitoring, and engaging with guests to provide an outstanding shopping experience. • Provide exceptional guest service to drive sales and ensure satisfaction., • Use suggestive selling techniques to promote seafood products., • Receive, unload, and break down deliveries; stock and rotate merchandise., • Ensure all items meet Citarella’s high-quality standards before display., • Prepare seafood items, including cleaning and cooking shrimp and lobster., • Maintain and restock displays while ensuring proper rotation and facing of products., • Apply basic knife skills to prepare seafood as needed., • Adhere to all Department of Health (DOH), Department of Agriculture (DOA), and OSHA safety and sanitation standards., • Use and manage cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety protocols., • Communicate clearly and professionally with team members and management., • Maintain a professional, respectful, and guest-facing demeanor at all times., • Complete all assigned duties as directed by the management team.
