Job Description Job Title: Journeyman Electrician Job Description This role focuses on commercial electrical work with an emphasis on rough-in installations, conduit systems, switchgear, and panel wiring in high-rise and other large-scale projects. You will interpret rough-in prints, install and terminate electrical systems, and perform troubleshooting to ensure safe, efficient, and code-compliant installations across multiple local job sites. Responsibilities • Perform rough-in electrical work, including layout and installation in accordance with rough-in prints and project plans., • Read and interpret electrical drawings, rough-in prints, and layouts to execute accurate installations., • Install and bend conduit, including rigid, EMT, and other raceway systems, using proper pipe bending techniques., • Install, assemble, and terminate switchgear and related equipment, ensuring safe and reliable operation., • Run BX and MC cable and perform roughing for high-rise deck work and other commercial applications., • Install and maintain electrical raceways, including Smurf tube and other conduit systems, particularly in deck and high-rise environments., • Perform riser work, including installation of electric risers and conduit risers for vertical distribution., • Install Kindorf racks and support systems for conduit, cable, and service equipment., • Pull service wire, MC cable, and BX cable as required for various commercial projects., • Install outlets, switches, devices, junction boxes, and panels, ensuring proper placement and secure mounting., • Perform terminations for panels, devices, and equipment, ensuring clean, safe, and code-compliant connections., • Troubleshoot electrical systems, identify faults, and perform corrective wiring and repairs, including panel wiring and three-way switch wiring., • Execute electrical deck work and high-rise deck work, including layout, raceway installation, and cable pulls., • Ensure all work complies with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and project specifications., • Use lifts and other equipment safely and in accordance with training and certification., • Collaborate with foremen and other team members, follow directions, and complete tasks efficiently and independently., • Maintain accurate time and attendance by signing in and out daily with the foreman., • Keep work areas organized, safe, and free of hazards, and properly store tools and materials at the end of each shift. Essential Skills • At least 8 years of commercial electrical experience., • Strong ability to perform rough-in work, including layout and installation from rough-in prints., • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical drawings and rough-in prints., • Advanced skills in conduit bending and installation, including various types of electrical raceways., • Hands-on experience installing and terminating switchgear and related equipment., • Demonstrated experience running BX and MC cable in commercial environments., • Proficiency in electrical deck work and high-rise deck work, including Smurf tube and raceway installation., • Experience with riser work, including electric risers and conduit risers., • Ability to install Kindorf racks and support systems for electrical installations., • Strong skills in pulling service wire, MC cable, and BX cable., • Experience installing outlets, switches, devices, junction boxes, and electrical panels., • Proficiency in terminations for panels, devices, and switchgear., • Strong troubleshooting skills, including diagnosing and repairing issues with panels and three-way switch wiring., • Ability to work independently with confidence while maintaining productivity and quality., • Strong attention to detail, particularly in pipe work, panel wiring, and switch wiring., • Valid SST 10-hour certification., • Valid OSHA 30 certification., • Valid lift certification., • Consistent use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with Smurf tube installations and electrical raceways in complex layouts., • Experience in high-rise construction environments and large commercial projects., • Familiarity with service work and pulling service wire for commercial installations., • Ability to work under the direction of foremen while demonstrating a positive attitude and strong work ethic., • Capability to handle multiple tasks on fast-paced job sites while maintaining quality and safety., • Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with supervisors and team members., • Comfort working at heights and on elevated decks when required., • Willingness to undergo skills evaluation focused on pipe work, panel wiring, and three-way switch wiring. Work Environment This is a field-based role on commercial and high-rise construction sites, with all projects located within the local metropolitan area. Standard start time is 7:00 a.m., and you must sign in and out each day with the foreman, including recording your name and time in and out. You are expected to have all required personal protective equipment, tools, and your SST and OSHA 30 cards on you at all times while on site. Work includes extensive pipe work, panel wiring, three-way switch wiring, deck work, riser work, and high-rise installations using raceways, Smurf tube, Kindorf racks, and various conduit systems. You may use lifts and other equipment as required, following all safety and certification requirements. Foremen closely evaluate technical ability, attitude, speed of task completion, and confidence working independently. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Brooklyn, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $38.00/hr.
