Job Description DSP must work with compassion, patience, good work ethic, dependability, honesty. A DSP is an individual who will be working with individuals with developmental disabilities. They will: • Assist individual with their daily living needs., • Assist individual with their personal hygiene care., • Teach individual life skills by providing love and compassion., • Assist with Increasing Community Participation (such as daily errands, attending events, restaurant, purchasing items, travel training, etc.), • Assist with Increasing Independence (such as helping the individual learn to do laundry, cook, clean, dress, grocery shop, pay for items, etc.), • Assist with Learning Activities (such as basic tutoring – math, reading, writing; support in attending a class; etc.) DSP's will also undergo, or must have priorly completed additional training/ prerequisites including the following. • Minimum 18 years of age – AND –, • Complete State/Federal Criminal Background checks and Central Registry checks, • Valid driver’s license and abstract (not to exceed 5 points) if driving is required, • Complete approved CPR and Safety Training and produce documentation., • CARI check completion within 10 days of start of service, • Drug Testing per Stephen Komnino’s Law prior to start of service, • Stephen Komnino’s’ Law Training via CDS prior to start of service, • Danielle’s Law Training via the CDS prior to start of service, • Completion of CDS DDD mandatory training bundle within 90 dates of hire Experience: • DSP: 1 year (Preferred)
