Job Description Business Development Representative – Corporate & Group Event Sales Company: Alley Pond Golf Center Location: Douglaston, Queens, NY Job Type: Full-Time Pay: $18.00–$25.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications, plus commission Work Arrangement: Hybrid — Remote Prospecting, Local Field Sales & On-Site Events This is not a fully remote position. Regular local business visits and on-site attendance for client meetings and group events are required. Alley Pond Golf Center is seeking a proactive Business Development Representative with at least 2 years of sales or business development experience to grow our corporate and group event business. You will promote and sell corporate outings, team-building activities, group golf experiences, and group dining packages. This is an outbound sales role requiring consistent cold calling, personalized cold emails, and in-person visits to local businesses. The ideal candidate understands the New York City business community, particularly Queens and nearby Long Island, and can use that knowledge to identify potential clients and develop relationships with decision-makers. You should be comfortable approaching companies where you have no existing contacts, starting conversations, handling rejection professionally, and independently turning prospects into confirmed bookings. This position offers flexibility for remote prospecting and administrative work, but it is not fully remote. Regular local business visits and on-site attendance for client meetings, facility tours, team meetings, and assigned group events are required. Key Responsibilities Prospecting and New Business Development • Independently research and build prospect lists of companies, local businesses, professional organizations, and community groups., • Use knowledge of the local business market to identify organizations likely to book corporate outings, team-building activities, and group events., • Identify and connect with HR professionals, office managers, executive assistants, business owners, event planners, and other decision-makers., • Conduct consistent cold calling, personalized cold email outreach, LinkedIn prospecting, networking, and follow-up., • Visit local businesses and offices in person to introduce Alley Pond Golf Center and promote our group event packages., • Initiate conversations with companies you have never visited and contacts you have never met, while respecting visitor policies and requests to decline contact., • Secure introductory meetings, discover client needs, and build relationships from the first interaction., • Handle rejection and objections professionally, adjust your approach when appropriate, and maintain consistent prospecting activity., • Build an active pipeline of independently sourced opportunities rather than relying solely on inbound inquiries or company-provided leads. Group Event Sales and Closing • Sell corporate outings, team-building experiences, group golf packages, and dining or hospitality packages., • Understand each client’s group size, budget, preferred dates, and event goals., • Present suitable packages and communicate their value clearly., • Coordinate with internal teams to confirm availability, package details, and operational requirements before making commitments., • Prepare proposals, follow up consistently, address objections, and negotiate within approved pricing guidelines., • Convert qualified opportunities into confirmed bookings and coordinate agreements and deposits with the appropriate team., • Identify opportunities for repeat events, referrals, and relevant additional services. Client Meetings and On-Site Event Support • Conduct facility tours and in-person sales meetings., • Attend assigned group events to welcome organizers and guests, maintain client relationships, and support a positive experience., • Communicate confirmed event details and client expectations clearly to the golf, food and beverage, and events teams., • Work with operations staff on event preparation and day-of coordination, focusing on client communication and hospitality., • Follow up after events to gather feedback, address concerns, and encourage repeat bookings. Sales Planning and Reporting • Plan and manage your outreach schedule, business visits, and follow-up activities., • Maintain accurate CRM records of prospects, conversations, meetings, proposals, bookings, and next steps., • Work toward agreed outreach, meeting, booking, and revenue targets., • Report pipeline progress, sales results, and challenges to management., • Collaborate with the Marketing team on sales materials and targeted promotions while maintaining ownership of direct outreach and lead development. Required Qualifications • A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in sales or business development., • Familiarity with the New York City business community, particularly Queens and nearby Long Island, including the types of companies and organizations that may book corporate outings and group events., • Ability to use local market knowledge to identify target accounts, connect with decision-makers, and develop new business opportunities., • Demonstrated ability to independently generate leads and build new client relationships., • Willingness and confidence to make regular in-person sales visits, including introductory visits to businesses where you have no existing relationship., • Comfortable making cold calls and sending personalized cold emails as a regular part of the job., • Ability to handle rejection, unanswered outreach, and sales objections with professionalism and persistence., • Experience managing sales opportunities from prospecting and qualification through proposals and closing., • Strong English communication, presentation, listening, negotiation, and follow-up skills., • Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to work independently and take responsibility for sales activity and results., • Professional and personable when meeting business contacts, hosting clients, and interacting with event guests., • Ability to travel regularly to our Douglaston facility and prospective clients throughout the assigned local territory., • Availability for occasional evening or weekend meetings and events, based on business needs., • Proficiency with email, Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, and CRM or similar sales tracking tools. Preferred Qualifications • Experience in B2B sales, corporate event sales, hospitality sales, or local field sales., • Experience selling company outings, private events, group dining, or recreation packages., • An established network of business contacts in Queens, Long Island, or the greater New York City area., • Familiarity with golf, recreation, restaurants, or event venues., • Additional language skills, including Chinese or Korean. Schedule and Work Arrangement • Full-time hybrid position combining remote work, local field sales, and on-site responsibilities., • Remote work may include prospect research, cold calling, email outreach, proposal preparation, and CRM updates., • In-person attendance is required for scheduled business visits, client meetings, facility tours, team meetings, and assigned group events., • Candidates must be able to serve the local market and reliably attend the facility as needed., • Schedules will be coordinated with management around outreach priorities, client availability, and event needs.
