Type: Full-Time (80 hours biweekly) Shift: Days Hours: Varied Pay: $86,000 The House Officer Role within the Anesthesia Department plays a critical part in supporting perioperative care, ensuring patient safety, and contributing to smooth and effective functioning of surgical services. This position is designed for early-career doctors seeking to gain practical experience in anesthesia and perioperative medicine under close supervision, with strong emphasis on clinical skill development, patient-centered care, and inter-professional collaboration. Key Responsibilities • Preoperative Assessment, • Conduct throughout preoperative evaluations, including review of medical history, physical examination, and relevant investigations., • Identify and communicate potential anesthesia-related risks to the supervising consultant, • Assist in developing individualized anesthesia plans to ensure optimal patient outcomes., • Intraoperative Care, • Participate in the delivery of anesthesia under supervision, ensuring the safety, comfort, and stability of patients during surgical procedures., • Monitor vital signs, manage airway support, and assist in intraoperative interventions as directed., • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthetists, nurses, and other perioperative staff to maintain a safe surgical environment., • Postoperative Review, • Conduct post-anesthesia rounds to monitor recovery and manage any complications or concerns., • Document postoperative findings and communicate issues requiring escalation to the supervising team., • Clinical Skill Development, • Gain hands-on experience in key anesthesia-related procedures, including:, • Airway management, • Vascular access (IV/arterial lines), • Regional anesthesia techniques (e.g. neuraxial and peripheral nerve blocks), • Shift and Roster Responsibilities, • Participate in rostered duties that include day, night and weekend shifts as required by the department., • A minimum of two hours per week is protected for participation in formal medical education and learning opportunities., • Education and Training, • Actively engage in department-led teaching sessions, journal clubs, simulations and other learning activities., • Work under the direct supervision of senior medical staff with opportunities for feedback, mentorship, and professional growth., • Eligibility and Qualifications, • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school, • Eligible for or currently holding a limited permit or full medical license to practice in NY State., • Successful completion of USMLE Steps 1 and 2 or COMPLEX Levels 1 and 2, as applicable., • Valid BLS and ACLS via AHA.

Position Summary: The Surgical Coordinator plays a critical role in managing the scheduling, coordination, and communication of all surgical procedures. This position involves working closely with surgeons, patients, insurance companies, and other healthcare professionals to ensure smooth and efficient surgical operations, while maintaining optimal patient care. The Surgical Coordinator must possess strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills to ensure timely and effective surgical procedures. Job Duties & Essential Functions: • Serve as the primary point of contact for patients, answering questions about surgical preparation., • Act as a liaison between surgeons, anesthesiologists, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure all surgical requirements are met., • Communicate with insurance providers to verify coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for surgeries., • Schedule patient surgeries and pre/post-operative appointments, including those with ASC, and surgeons., • Confirm surgery dates and provide pre-operative and post-operative instructions to patients., • Ensure all necessary pre-operative information (e.g., consent forms, medical history, lab results) is collected, reviewed, and documented., • Arrange transportation for patients, if necessary, for procedures or related appointments., • Prepare surgical folders and collect required paperwork after procedures, ensuring completeness and accuracy., • Handle pre-operative testing and review patient medication lists to align with surgery requirements., • Confirm all pertinent details for the procedure, including bookings, insurance, medical clearance, authorizations, and signed consent forms., • Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations., • Regularly update the surgical schedule to reflect changes or adjustments., • Ensure the availability and proper functioning of all required surgical equipment and supplies., • Collaborate with the billing department to ensure accurate charge recording and processing., • Address patient concerns or questions after and after surgery., • Perform any additional tasks assigned or directed by the supervisor. Required Qualifications: • High School diploma or equivalent, • One (1) year of experience as a medical receptionist with knowledge of insurance verification and authorizations., • Strong understanding of medical terminology and surgical procedures., • Proficiency with office software and electronic health record (EHR) systems., • Associate’s degree in healthcare administration, nursing, or a related field., • Two years relevant surgical coordinator, ophthalmic/optometric, sales experience., • Previous experience in a healthcare or surgical setting.
