We’re currently looking for a skilled and experienced Auto Body Estimator to join our team. With over 5 years of estimating experience, you’ll play a key role in our growing operation—particularly supporting our blueprinting department in Plainfield. Opportunities for advancement across multiple locations, a supportive, team-oriented work environment the chance to be part of a fast-growing, family-owned business Compensation: $60,000 - $100,000 yearly Responsibilities: • Write accurate and detailed repair estimates, • Order parts efficiently and track deliveries, • Provide excellent customer service throughout the repair process, • Perform quality control checks to ensure repairs meet company and industry standards, • Work closely with insurance adjusters and maintain strong DRP/insurance partner relationships, • Monitor job costs to ensure profitability and control expenses, • Auto Estimating: 5 years (Preferred), • Experience writing/working with all major DRP programs (Geico, Progressive, USAA, Allstate, etc.) preferred, • Prior experience working as an insurance adjuster is welcomed, • Parts Trader Experience (preferred), • ADAS exposure or experience writing & billing (preferred), • Understanding of gross profit (preferred)About Company C&L Autobody is a regional Multiple-Shop Organization (MSO) with 11 body shops throughout Morris, Essex, Sussex, Warren, Union, and Middlesex counties in Northern NJ. POSITION SUMMARY As an Estimator reporting to a Sr. Estimator or Vice President, your primary role is to provide analysis and pricing of construction projects by conducting construction estimating, budgeting and bidding for assigned projects ranging in value from $100K to $30M. You will interact with architects, clients, subcontractors, business development and operations staff to ensure a clear understanding of project objectives, schedules and other information. You will develop competitive bids as well as conceptual budgets in response to specific proposal requests. You will also solicit and maintain relationships with qualified subcontractors and material suppliers in order to receive responsive and competitive proposals and pricing. You will be expected to maintain a strong understanding of current and ongoing market conditions and be aware of any significant changes in the market, including pricing changes, lead time impacts, changes to the supplier base, etc. RESPONSIBILITIES * Provide thorough review of construction plans, architectural and engineered drawing sets. * Identify items that have been omitted and ensure appropriate accounting for such items in overall estimate package that represents the full scope of the project. * Timely preparation of conceptual estimates, competitive bids, budgets, and pricing analysis, as required on proposed projects. * Share information about reliable sub-contractors and suppliers to assist Project Managers and other team members in the timely preparation of GMP and Lump Sum pricing. • Schedule and conduct frequent project walkthroughs with subcontractors and clients to define scope of work and visually survey the project extents, • Prepare competitive Lump Sum and Time and Material bids on construction projects, including timely review of associated bid forms, pricing, and general conditions by appropriate senior management. Assist Project Managers with subcontractor/vendor bidding on projects. * Develop conceptual project schedules based on subcontract input and historical data. * Maintain a construction cost database, including historical cost data and unit pricing. * Maintain the subcontractor/vendor qualified bidders database for use by estimating and Project Managers along with other team members. * Identify and remain current with an up-to-date understanding of the latest construction materials, pricing, trends, systems, procedures, means and methods, computer programs, management techniques, code changes, etc.. * Follow approved estimating practices consistent with corporate guidelines and ensure such practices result in the most complete estimates possible while meeting financial objectives. * Ensure quality and timely work output by prioritizing tasks and meeting assigned deadlines. * Provide feedback to senior leadership on gaining competitive advantages over the competition. * Be proactive in identifying opportunities through current and past clients. * Attend client meetings to discuss estimates, answering any questions and resolving any issues regarding pricing and estimates throughout duration of project. * Provide change order pricing, site visits, bid delivery and collaboration with teams. * Prepare estimates used for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work, preparing bids, selecting vendors or subcontractors and determining cost effectiveness. * Conduct special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data for effect cost reductions. * Analyze completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies. * Close out estimate packages and maintain archive files. * Regional travel up to 3 days at a time, throughout the Northeastern US, Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern US will occasionally be required. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA) * Excellent estimating, communication, financial analysis, budgeting, purchasing, negotiation and computer skills are essential. * Requires expertise in the use of computer software programs, such as, Microsoft Office Suite. Blue Beam and Premier experience are a plus. * Life Sciences or manufacturing facility project experience (or similar) preferred. * Must have reliable transportation. * When driving on company business, a clean driving record, valid drivers license, properly maintained employee-owned vehicle with the state minimum mandated levels of auto liability insurance are required as a condition of employment.
