Job Description Estimator - Heavy Civil & Highway Construction Location: Westchester County About the Company: The organization is a well-established, family-owned heavy civil and site development contractor with decades of experience in the industry. It specializes in heavy highway construction, site development, and utility work, serving a broad regional market. The company is recognized for its commitment to safety, quality, and innovation, supported by advanced equipment and technology. Position Overview: The company is seeking a Mid-to-Senior Level Estimator to join its estimating department. This role offers an excellent opportunity for career advancement in the heavy highway construction industry. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing accurate bids and proposals for complex civil projects, collaborating closely with project managers and subcontractors. Key Responsibilities: • Lead and support all phases of the estimating and bidding process for heavy civil projects., • Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents., • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs using Bluebeam Revu and manual methods., • Develop and maintain Excel spreadsheets for calculations and cost analysis., • Direct subcontractors through vendor application and insurance requirements., • Distribute bid documents and gather quotations from subcontractors and suppliers., • Enter bid quantities into HCSS estimating software., • Assist in completing bid forms and proposal requirements., • Attend pre-bid meetings and bid openings. Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred., • 3+ years of experience in estimating heavy civil/highway projects., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)., • Knowledge of HCSS and Bluebeam Revu software is a plus., • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines., • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills., • Positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow within the organization.
