Job DescriptionJob Title: Porter Job Description This full-time Porter role supports a pharmaceutical facility by performing daily janitorial and general maintenance duties to ensure a clean, safe, and compliant environment. You will maintain floors, support facility upkeep, and follow established procedures and guidelines to meet strict quality and cleanliness standards. Responsibilities • Perform all daily janitorial duties for the New York facility in accordance with established procedures and standards., • Carry out general facility and equipment maintenance tasks as assigned to support smooth operations., • Maintain floors, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing, using appropriate floor cleaning equipment., • Operate and care for floor cleaning equipment safely and effectively., • Assist with site snow removal to keep walkways and facility access points safe and clear., • Lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds as needed for cleaning and maintenance activities., • Climb ladders safely to perform cleaning and maintenance tasks at heights when required., • Use a respirator in clean room areas when necessary, following all safety and compliance guidelines., • Read and follow written instructions, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), to complete tasks accurately and consistently., • Perform all duties in alignment with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines where applicable., • Support basic maintenance activities related to electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and piping systems under guidance, as appropriate., • Follow all safety, cleanliness, and regulatory requirements within a pharmaceutical environment., • Complete additional related duties as assigned by supervision to support facility cleanliness and maintenance needs.Essential Skills, • 1–3 years of experience in janitorial services, preferably in a similar facility environment., • Ability to read and write English to understand and follow written instructions and SOPs., • General knowledge of cleaning equipment, procedures, and floor maintenance techniques., • Mechanical aptitude and general maintenance capability., • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and safely use ladders to perform work at heights., • Capability to use or learn to use a respirator in clean room areas, following safety requirements., • Physical ability to perform all normal duties required of maintenance department staff, including standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended periods., • Strong reliability, work ethic, and a positive, professional attitude.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred., • 1–3 years of janitorial experience in a pharmaceutical or GMP-regulated facility preferred., • Previous general maintenance experience preferred., • Basic understanding of electrical systems., • Basic understanding of mechanical systems., • Basic understanding of plumbing and piping systems., • Background or familiarity with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) preferred., • Experience working in a clean room or controlled environment is a plus., • Pharmaceutical industry Background is a plus., • Strong interpersonal skills and a cooperative, team-oriented personality.Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a full-time, on-site position in a pharmaceutical facility with a regular shift from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and climbing ladders to complete cleaning and maintenance tasks. You will work with janitorial and floor maintenance equipment, and may use a respirator in clean room areas, following safety and compliance guidelines.
