Job Description New York City Health + Hospitals | Elmhurst, a teaching affiliate of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, is one of 11 acute care municipal hospitals in New York City and is a part of the largest public hospital system in the United States. We serve an ethnically diverse patient population in a culturally rich neighborhood of Queens, New York. Our CICU provides multidisciplinary care for patients with complex cardiovascular disease. We are seeking highly motivated candidates for full-time Physician Assistant positions in the Department of Cardiology, for the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU). Prior ICU and/or cardiology is a plus. Candidates will be employees of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. This is an excellent opportunity to join a multidisciplinary team working with a diverse patient population. Fluency in Spanish is a plus. General tasks and responsibilities will include: · Provide advanced care for patients with acute cardiac conditions, including ACS, cardiogenic shock, arrhythmia, advanced heart failure, post-MI care, and patients requiring mechanical circulatory support. · Perform and document comprehensive history and physical examinations. · Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic studies and laboratory tests. · Perform ICU procedures (central venous catheter placement, arterial line placement, etc.) as credentialed. · Participate in daily CICU rounds and multidisciplinary care planning. · Collaborate with cardiology fellows, residents, nurses, and ancillary staff. · Support quality improvement, education, and research activities within the CICU. · Provide patient/family education and discharge planning The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides equal employment opportunity to all its employees and applicants for employment without unlawful discrimination on the basis of their actual or perceived race, creed, color, religion, national origin, sex, gender, gender expression, gender identity, age, disability, marital or parental status, sexual orientation, veteran, immigration, citizenship, or other protected status.
