THE OPPORTUNITY As an Assistant Manager, you will play a critical leadership role in driving daily operations, team performance, and guest satisfaction. You’ll lead by example — ensuring food quality, food safety, operational excellence, and strong team culture throughout every shift. You will oversee both back-of-house and front-of-house operations, support staff development, manage inventory and labor, and ensure compliance with NYC health regulations. This is a hands-on leadership position where you are actively coaching, solving problems, and elevating performance in real time. The Assistant Manager ensures the quality, safety, and consistency of Adobo’s food every day while inspiring Crew members and creating an environment where every guest leaves happy. WHAT YOU’LL DO In addition to following Adobo’s policies and procedures, key responsibilities include: Leadership & Operations Lead and supervise daily restaurant operations. Support hiring, onboarding, and training of Crew members. Coach and develop team members into future leaders. Manage shift execution, ensuring smooth service flow. Maintain strong communication between front-of-house and back-of-house teams. Food Quality & Safety Ensure all food meets Adobo’s high standards. Enforce NYC food safety and sanitation guidelines. Monitor food handling, storage, and FIFO inventory rotation. Complete required temperature logs, safety checklists, and compliance documentation. Maintain an “A” grade standard at all times. Inventory & Cost Control Oversee stocking, ordering, and waste management. Monitor food costs and labor to meet performance targets. Ensure kitchen equipment is properly maintained and coordinate repairs when needed. Guest Experience Resolve guest concerns professionally and efficiently. Maintain a positive, welcoming dining environment. Lead by example in hospitality and service excellence. WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE Valid NYC Food Protection Certificate (REQUIRED). Must be 21 years or older. Prior management or supervisory experience in a restaurant environment. Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, and NYC health regulations. Ability to lead, motivate, and hold team members accountable. Strong communication skills in the primary language(s) of the restaurant. High school diploma (preferred).     The Center Coordinator ensures smooth, compassionate, and organized operations at their assigned North Porch location. This role involves direct client interaction, inventory management, donor intake, reporting, and maintaining strong relationships with partner agencies and host locations. The Coordinator is the welcoming face of the center and plays a key role in delivering essential support to families in crisis. Key Responsibilities Client Services • Schedule in‑person appointments for new clients and complete intake information., • Prepare supply packages for distribution, including diapers, wipes, formula, baby food, clothing, and other baby items., • Note any additional client needs and communicate them so the organization can search its network for resources., • Answer calls from current clients, confirm intake details, and prepare bags for scheduled pickup days., • Provide referrals to other agencies or programs when clients need additional support. Inventory Management • Prepare and submit monthly inventory reports to the Program Director by the required deadline., • Monitor supply levels and notify the Director when items are low or urgently needed. Reporting • Submit monthly Inventory Reports to the Program Director., • Submit monthly Mother & Infant Number Reports to the Program Director. Agency & Host Location Relations • Respond to questions from current referring agencies., • Register new organizations as referring partners., • Maintain positive, professional relationships with host locations. Center Maintenance • Keep the center clean, organized, and welcoming for clients, volunteers, and donors. Qualifications Required • Strong communication and interpersonal skills., • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks., • Comfort working with families experiencing crisis or hardship., • Basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets, data entry)., • Ability to lift and move supply boxes (typically 15 lbs)., • Compassionate, patient, and client‑centered., • Organized and detail‑oriented., • Bilingual (Spanish/English or other languages). Preferred • Experience in social services, community outreach, or nonprofit work., • Experience with volunteer coordination., • Familiarity with northern New Jersey communities. You’ll learn how to cook dishes, grill meats, chopping, fry sides, and sauté vegetables to perfection and much more. You’ll also oversee stocking, prepping, and cleaning to ensure that our kitchen always runs at its best. Beyond food preparation, you’ll train and develop team members to become future Kitchen Leaders themselves. The Line Cook ensures the quality, safety, and consistency of Adobo’s food every day. They keep the kitchen clean, organized, and stocked, while also making sure equipment is maintained and in good condition. As a role model, the Kitchen Leader inspires Crew members, promotes teamwork, and creates an environment where every guest leaves happy. WHAT YOU’LL DO In addition to following Adobo’s policies and procedures, key responsibilities include: Cooking and prepping food Ensuring every food meets our high standards. Grilling meats, frying menu items, and sautéing vegetables for custom orders. Stocking, rotating, and managing kitchen inventory (FIFO). Monitoring food quality, safety, and waste, resolving issues quickly. Supporting teamwork between back-of-house and front-of-house staff. Custom made orders Developing and training Crew members to grow into leadership roles. Maintaining a clean, sanitized, and well-organized kitchen at all times. Ensuring kitchen equipment is in good working order and coordinating timely repairs. Following all safety guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries. Completing necessary checklists, logs, and safety documentation. WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE TABLE Passion for cooking fresh, flavorful food. Perfer 21+ be at least years old Ability to understand and uphold Adobo’s quality and integrity standards. Strong communication skills in the primary language(s) of the restaurant.
