This is a facility-level Safety, Health & Environmental leadership role in a heavy industrial environment, driving OSHA compliance, safety management, and environmental stewardship every single day. You’ll be the go-to safety leader for operations and maintenance, turning standards into habits, incidents into learning, and KPIs into action. What You'll Work On You’ll own the full safety program for a complex industrial facility focused on sustainable waste and energy operations: • Plant-wide Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) programs, • OSHA 1910/1926 compliance and site safety requirements, • Incident prevention, investigation, and corrective actions, • Employee and contractor safety training and performance, • Occupational health and medical surveillance programs, • Environmental compliance support at the facility level, • Safety committees and cross-functional safety initiatives, • Continuous improvement of safety culture and systems You’ll work in a heavy industrial setting that may include power generation, thermomechanical treatment operations, materials recovery, recycling, or similar environments. This is where you turn a safety program into a safety culture. What You'll Be Doing • Leading and managing all aspects of the facility’s SHE programs with visible, hands-on presence, • Ensuring compliance with OSHA 1910/1926, applicable permits, and company safety requirements, • Driving OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) initiatives where applicable, • Tracking program effectiveness through KPIs, audits, observations, and inspections, • Implementing corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives, • Leading investigations of accidents, near-misses, first-aid, recordable, vehicle, and contractor incidents, • Coordinating scene security, medical response, root cause analysis, and corrective follow-through, • Maintaining complete, accurate safety records, logs, reports, and regulatory documentation, • Managing the facility safety training program, alerts, bulletins, and procedures, • Overseeing contractor and temporary worker safety performance with facility leadership, • Educating, coaching, and motivating employees and contractors on safe work practices, • Supporting environmental compliance inspections, permits, and reporting obligations, • Leading safety committees and partnering cross-functionally to strengthen safety culture, • Serving as primary contact for occupational health and medical surveillance programsWhat We're Looking For, • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related discipline (equivalent industrial experience considered), • 2–4+ years of occupational health and safety experience, • Background in industrial manufacturing, thermomechanical treatment operations, power generation, utility, chemical processing, materials recovery, recycling, or other heavy industrial environments preferred, • Working knowledge of OSHA 1910, OSHA 1926, and applicable state safety regulations, • Experience supporting operations and maintenance activities within an industrial facility, • Professional safety certifications such as ASP, CSP, OHST, or CHST preferred, • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio, • Proven ability to lead through influence with strong interpersonal, coaching, and communication skills, • Analytical, problem-solving mindset with focus on operational excellence and risk reduction, • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced industrial environment and drive changeThe Experience That Will Really Get Our Attention You’ve been the safety point person in a heavy industrial plant, not just pushing paperwork but partnering with operations and maintenance to solve real problems in the field. You’re comfortable in PPE on the floor and in front of leadership with the data, story, and plan. You bring a change-agent mindset, driving VPP-style engagement and continuous improvement, not just compliance.
