Position Overview: This position is located primarily in our Albany office, with monthly visits to our downstate Kingston office. The Foster Care Nurse is responsible for independently performing a wide variety of duties to provide quality nursing care to our Foster Care clients in the Capital Region. Position Requirements & Qualifications: • Registered Nurse; or LPN Certificate and Associate's Degree with at least one (1) year of nursing experience., • Must be licensed and registered to practice nursing in New York State., • Current CPR/First Aid Certification., • Experience with MAR, AWARDS / NYS Connections is highly beneficial., • Proficiency in computer applications: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Business Workspace Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Meet, Sheets, etc.), and use secure Internet practices., • Experience working with the pediatric and adolescent population; Experience specific to working with emotionally troubled and traumatized children is highly preferred., • Experience in the use of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI)., • Must be willing and able to work in close proximity with the clients we serve., • Demonstrated patience, flexibility, and adaptability to day-to-day changes with client needs and functioning. Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • The treatment of ill children, including referrals to the emergency room or other medical providers as needed., • Plan for and perform nursing assessments on children newly admitted to foster care, and on an as needed basis, during normal business hours., • Maintain complete electronic medical records for all children in our care., • Conduct health teaching for children in care and their families., • Develop care plans as needed, congruent with any special needs of the child., • Collaborate with all members of the treatment team regarding the emotional and mental health needs of the children., • Act as a liaison between foster families and medical providers in the community, documenting all medical appointments and follow up in the EMR., • Responsible for reconciling medication orders, adding them to the EMR and communicating them to families., • Make consistent contact with caseload, including reviewing and communicating pertinent past and present medical information with the foster families and the treatment team., • Communicate with all team members any specific medical changes of clients which occur during normal business hours.
