Job DescriptionJob Title: Quality EngineerJob Description The Quality Engineer plays a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and compliance of aerospace products and systems. This position focuses on root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, supplier quality, and adherence to AS9100 standards. The role involves close collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and regulatory stakeholders to support the design, development, testing, and production of high-quality ice protection and temperature control systems for aerospace, industrial, and transit applications. Responsibilities • Lead root cause and corrective action (RCCA) investigations on field returns and nonconforming products, and present findings in a clear and timely manner., • Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) meetings with cross-functional engineering teams to evaluate non-conforming material and determine appropriate disposition., • Prepare and review First Article Inspections (FAIs), Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs), quality procedures, inspection plans, Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), quality manuals, and quality alerts for aerospace programs., • Support and review First Article Inspection Reports in accordance with AS9102 requirements, and coordinate with customers and regulatory bodies for approvals and sign-off., • Contribute to supplier quality activities, including audits, assessments, and corrective actions to ensure compliance with AS9100 and internal quality standards., • Review manufacturing procedures and apply lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance overall quality assurance., • Participate in high-speed and icing wind tunnel testing of early-stage development products, and perform thermal analysis of ice accumulation on aircraft structures such as horizontal and vertical stabilizers., • Design and construct test fixtures and tooling to support functionality testing and validation of aerospace systems and components., • Ensure dimensional requirements of products using tools such as a FARO Arm, and create inspection and prototype tools with AutoDesk Inventor and 3D printing technologies., • Collaborate with developers, project managers, customer support, and external stakeholders to address quality issues and ensure alignment on product requirements and standards., • Document and maintain quality records, reports, and procedures in accordance with regulatory and company requirements., • Communicate quality findings, risks, and recommendations clearly through written reports, presentations, and meetings., • Continuously monitor production processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement quality enhancements across programs.Essential Skills, • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline., • 2+ years of experience as a Quality Engineer in aerospace or another regulated industry, or relevant internship experience in quality or manufacturing engineering within an aerospace environment., • Hands-on experience with root cause and corrective action investigations, including RCCA methodologies., • Strong background in aerospace quality assurance, including familiarity with AS9100 standards., • Experience with supplier quality activities such as audits and corrective actions., • Material Review Board (MRB) experience in assessing and dispositioning non-conforming material., • Knowledge of First Article Inspection Reports in accordance with AS9102., • Quality assurance experience in a manufacturing or production environment., • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reports, presentations, and stakeholder interactions., • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in managing documentation and multiple projects., • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose complex quality issues., • Extensive knowledge of, or the ability to quickly learn, production processes related to aerospace and engineered systems., • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to serve as a liaison among developers, project managers, customer support, and external customers., • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software for documentation, analysis, and communication.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Quality certifications such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), or similar credentials., • Experience preparing and reviewing FAIs, ATPs, quality procedures, inspection plans, ECNs, quality manuals, and quality alerts., • Experience participating in high-speed and icing wind tunnel testing and performing thermal analysis of ice accumulation on aircraft structures., • Familiarity with aerospace programs and platforms, including military and commercial aircraft., • Experience designing and building test fixtures and tooling for functionality testing of aerospace systems., • Experience using FARO Arm or similar dimensional inspection equipment., • Ability to use AutoDesk Inventor and 3D printing technologies to create inspection tools and prototypes., • background in lean manufacturing methods and continuous improvement initiatives., • Ability to conduct meetings and conference calls with customers and regulators to present quality documentation and secure approvals., • Comfort working in an engineering-oriented, systems design and manufacturing environment with complex technical products.Work Environment This Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plainview, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $46.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
