Job DescriptionSenior Electrical Engineer - NYC - Engineering firms, MEP Contractors and Service-based industrial companies Overview We are currently supporting clients seeking Senior Electrical Engineers to support complex infrastructure projects across the NYC and Long Island market. This role focuses on leading the design and delivery of electrical systems for large-scale, multidisciplinary projects. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and experience working with public agencies and infrastructure clients. Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership & Design • Lead the design and specification of electrical systems for complex infrastructure projects, including:, • Medium and low voltage power distribution, • Lighting and control systems, • Traction power and substations (rail/transit), • Communications, SCADA, and control systems, • Fire life safety and emergency power systems, • ITS, signal power, and roadway electrical systems, • Prepare and review design drawings, calculations, reports, and technical specifications, • Perform system studies including load flow, short circuit, grounding, and protection coordination, • Ensure all designs meet applicable codes, standards, and agency requirements, • Evaluate and implement innovative and sustainable electrical design solutionsProject Leadership & Coordination, • Serve as discipline lead for electrical scope on complex, multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects, • Coordinate closely with civil, structural, mechanical, and systems engineering teams, • Support project planning including schedules, budgets, staffing, and risk mitigation, • Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, and value engineering efforts, • Maintain high-quality control standards across all deliverablesClient & Stakeholder Engagement, • Interface with public agencies, utilities, contractors, and project stakeholders, • Present technical solutions and design concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, • Support proposal development, including scope definition, fee development, and technical narrativesMentorship & Team Development, • Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, • Perform technical reviews and provide feedback to ensure quality and consistency, • Contribute to internal standards, best practices, and continuous improvement initiativesTechnical Skills, • Power distribution and substation design (MV/LV systems), • Traction power and rail system electrical infrastructure, • Electrical system analysis (load flow, fault analysis, protection coordination), • SCADA, communications, and control systems, • Fire life safety and emergency power design, • Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, IEEE, AASHTO, etc.)Core Competencies, • Strong leadership and project ownership capabilities, • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, • Ability to manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously, • Strong communication skills across technical teams and stakeholders, • Detail-oriented with a focus on safety, quality, and complianceQualifications, • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (required), • Professional Engineer (PE) license (required), • 15+ years of progressive experience in electrical engineering within transportation or infrastructure projects, • Demonstrated experience supporting large, complex projects such as:, • Transit and rail systems, • Highways, bridges, and tunnels, • Airports or major public infrastructureAdditional Details, • Hybrid office/field environment supporting major infrastructure projects, • Opportunity to work on high-impact public sector initiatives, • Competitive compensation and leadership growth opportunityIn accordance with New York salary transparency requirements, the anticipated annual base salary range for positions is: $175k-$225k annually.
