Job Description Therapist - Counseling Center - 60% Full-Time Summary: The Trauma Therapist position is 60% of a full-time position (21 hours per week) and is a hybrid position with 11 hours onsite and 10 hours remote. Onsite hours include 4 hours every Saturday and one shift from 12:00 to 8:00 during the week. This is an excellent position for clinicians in need of licensing hours and who wish to become experts in several evidence-based treatments for survivors of all ages of interpersonal violence. The Safe Horizon Counseling Center (SHCC) is a New York State-licensed outpatient mental health clinic that specializes, exclusively, in the trauma-focused treatment of child and adult survivors of interpersonal violence and other forms of abuse. SHCC also functions as the mental health “hub” of Safe Horizon, the largest crime victim’s assistance agency in the country. Our main clinic is located at 41 Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn, and we operate two satellites that are co-located at other Safe Horizon programs. Nearly half of SHCC’s clients are referred by one of Safe Horizon’s vast arrays of programs. The Trauma Therapist will receive paid training and supervision in a variety of evidence-based treatments for trauma survivors, and the client hours meet New York State’s experience requirements for LCSW licensure. Job Description Multisystemic Therapist - Emerging Adults POSITION OVERVIEW: · Support emerging adults in their transition from group residential foster care into independent living with a minimum of disruptions and reduce the risk of emerging adults requiring further systemic involvement and placement. · Eliminate or significantly reduce the frequency and intensity of the emerging adult’s referral concerns in mental health, educational/vocational, interpersonal, and behavioral domains. · Empower the emerging adult and their social network with the skills and resources needed to independently address the difficulties that arise in independent living, and to empower the emerging adult to overcome family, peer, school, employment, and community concerns. · The group residence programs served by MST-EA (Cedar Knolls House and Kaplan House) serve transition aged youth displaying a wide range of behaviors including psychiatric diagnoses, trauma and loss, and related family/behavioral issues. The target for MST-EA focuses on transition age youth, 17 to 26 years old, transitioning from the group residence into the community. Program works with the emerging adult from up to 2 months prior to discharge up to 10 months post-discharge to support the successful reintegration back to the community and social network. Assists residents and their families in accessing community resources and services related to substance abuse, legal, mental health, medical and vocational/educational needs. Functions in a collaborative role within the clinical team and provides guidance and direction to the Counselors. The Ryan White Support Services program addresses unmet social service needs that have significantly hindered their access to and engagement in HIV and other essential medical care. This program will expand services to Staten Island and establish community-based, non-Medicaid eligible services in Queens to assess, identify, and address unmet social determinants of health (SDOH) needs. The Peer Advocate position was created as research and CHASI’s values dictate that involving people who have their own lived experience with substance use, mental health conditions, and/ or HIV is invaluable in reaching and helping the population. The Peer Advocate mentors and guides individuals using their experiences to support people in a way that shows people that living a healthy life with HIV is not only possible but sustainable. The Peer Advocate maintains appropriate positive, professional interpersonal relationships with staff, participants, volunteers, and the community. They will be well versed in all CHASI and Sun River Health services to refer and link clients appropriate to services.
