Job DescriptionJob Title: Maintenance Mechanic Job Description Join our team as a Maintenance Mechanic on the 2nd or 3rd shift in a dynamic food manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for maintaining all plant equipment in optimal operating condition through preventive maintenance programs, correct maintenance procedures, and safe workplace practices. Responsibilities • Ensure optimal functioning of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing both planned and unplanned maintenance on production, packaging, and processing equipment., • Be readily available for emergency repairs in breakdown situations., • Inspect machines and equipment to locate problems, replace defective parts, and make necessary adjustments to ensure continuous production operation., • Use hand and power tools to remove, install, replace, rebuild, repair, and test parts/equipment on plant and production equipment., • Troubleshoot and maintain diverse equipment including motor controls, BFD, refrigeration, mixers, conveyors, sensors, printers, and packaging equipment., • Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service., • Complete work orders in a timely manner while maintaining high-quality standards., • Maintain communication with other departments, management, and employees to notify them of problems and/or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of production., • Ensure paperwork is filled out completely, clearly, legibly, and accurately, documenting all required information in accordance with SOPs., • Utilize a continuous improvement mindset, identifying opportunities to improve processes., • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices, ensuring food safety and maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe work area., • Follow required safe work practices including lockout-tagout, wearing of required PPE in designated areas, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.Essential Skills, • Troubleshooting, • Mechanical and Electrical Troubleshooting, • Repair, • Industrial Equipment Maintenance, • Preventative Maintenance, • PLC TroubleshootingAdditional Skills & Qualifications, • High School Diploma or GED preferred. Formal Engineering/Maintenance Training desired., • Minimum two years of experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing facility, preferably in the food and beverage industry., • Minimum two years of experience with technical areas such as electrical, mechanical, PLC, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, computer-controlled equipment, HVAC., • Professional experience with ammonia refrigeration systems preferred., • Ability to inspect equipment, recognize potential problems, and independently take corrective action to prevent component failures or equipment downtime., • Proficiency in evaluating, repairing, and operating production equipment., • Welding and hand/power tool skills required for equipment repair and maintenance., • Ability to accurately add, multiply, and divide in units of measure., • Computer and accurate data entry skills., • Skilled operation of stand-up and sit-down forklifts.Why Work Here? Work Environment The work environment is a standard production setting with exposure to noise, humidity, and temperature changes, especially when maintenance is completed outdoors. Products manufactured may contain peanuts and tree nuts. Physical demands include frequent operation of machinery, use of hand and power tools, and material handling equipment. Be prepared to sit, climb, stand, walk, kneel, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays, is necessary. Vision requirements include close and distant vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color distinction. Correct handling of chemicals and dry materials is crucial. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of East Brunswick, New Jersey. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $40.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
