American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ED - Emergency Department for a travel nursing job in Bakersfield, California. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: ED - Emergency Department, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 12/15/2025, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Work in an acute care Emergency Department with 21 beds, • Night shifts with 12-hour self-scheduling; schedules finalized by management, • Required to work 4 weekend shifts in each 4-week schedule, • Assignment length is 13 weeks, • Must be first to float and may float between two ERs within 6.5 miles, • Charge nurse and resource nurse support available, • Typical patient ratio is 1:4, 1:2 for ICU-level patients, • Patient population includes general ER and MedSurg telemetry holds, • Unit staffed with mid-levels, LVNs, and ED techs (EMT or aides), • EMR is Cerner; telemetry monitored on Phillips; ventilators in use, • Primary Stroke Center designation, • Floor-specific orientation includes 2 shifts at primary campus and 1 at the other facility, • Nurse Shift Manager role includes patient care, department management, triage, and acting as charge nurse as needed, • Must be able to support MET Team and handle high-volume fluctuations (up to 175 patients/day), • Traveler must be very teamwork oriented, • Will be expected to care for MedSurg Telemetry hold patients, • Call requirements include responding within 30 minutes if placed on standby, • Holiday coverage required: one major and one minor holiday per assignment, • Navy blue scrubs required, including jackets; undershirts must be navy, white, or black, • This must be the candidate’s primary job; external schedule accommodations will not be made, • Facility rarely holds 5150 psych patients longer than 12 hours, • First-time travelers are considered\n \n Requirements\n, • Active, unencumbered CA RN license required at time of consideration, • Minimum 3 years recent ER nursing experience, • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS, • Demonstrated strong charge nurse or management experience in the ED, • Ability to start IVs, administer medications, and triage ambulance patients, • Two professional references required: one supervisor from last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the last 3 years, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility, • Copy of driver’s license required for consideration\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
