American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Assistant Manager, Med Surg / Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Bakersfield, California. • Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: ASAP, • Duration: 16 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Employment Type: Travel American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN Nurse Shift Manager to lead MS Tele units on night shifts, requiring a current CA RN license and recent direct patient care experience. • Work in a 27-bed Med Surg Telemetry management unit in an acute care hospital setting, • Patient population includes general med surg, GYN, post-surgical cases, oncology (including private suites), some spine and joint patients, and patients over age 15, • Nurse-patient ratios are 1:5 for med surg and 1:4 for chemo/tele patients, • Utilizes Cerner EMR system, • Night shift position with 12-hour shifts; required to work every other weekend, • Floating may be required to other med surg units as the first to float, • Remote telemetry monitoring with monitor techs and no ventilator patients, • Support staff includes nursing aides (target 2 per shift), resource nurses, an in-house hospitalist, 24/7 RT and pharmacy support, • No on-call responsibilities, • Navy scrubs required, • No IV team, but PICC and midline team available, • Responsible for overseeing patient care and administrative activities for MS Tele units during assigned shifts, • Ensures quality and effectiveness of care, supports staffing compliance, and monitors productivity and budget standards, • Leads, coaches, evaluates, and directs unit staff and administers policies and procedures, • Supports a collaborative team environment with access to 24/7 support staff, • Required to cover two major holidays and one minor holiday during the assignment, • Expect orientation including Cerner training and unit-specific shifts as needed, • Must demonstrate compassionate care and an aptitude for teaching and mentorship, • Returning travelers must not have been directly employed at CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities in the past year, • Active CA RN license required at time of consideration (pending licenses not accepted), • Minimum of 3 years RN experience with strong charge experience; management experience preferred, • Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) required, • Recent direct patient care experience within the past year is required, • Strong central line management skills needed, • Must provide two professional references: one supervisor reference from the past year and one peer or supervisor reference from the past three years, including dates of employment and rehire eligibility, • Copy of driver's license required, • No first-time travelers will be considered, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy, • Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID #P-605862.
