Summary: The Night Auditor is responsible for the overnight audit process and accounting functions such as daily reporting of revenues and accounts payables, transaction audits and verifications, and preparation of final statements for the next day's check-outs. They may also perform reception duties for late-night guests, including check-ins and addressing guest requests. Duties & Responsibilities: • Check front office accounting records for accuracy summarize information for the hotel's financial records, • Track room revenue, occupancy percentages, and other front office operating statistics, • Prepare a summary of cash, check, and credit card activities reflecting the hotel's financial performance for the day, • Post room charges and room taxes to guest accounts including guest transactions not posted during the day by the front office cashier, • Ensure charges of the day have been properly posted to the appropriate guest folio or master account, • Process guest charges voucher and credit card vouchers, • Transfer charges and deposits to master accounts, • Check to see that all charges are assigned to the appropriate departments, • Verify that all transactions performed at the front desk are supported by documentary evidence and signatures, • Print and file reservations for the next business day, • Monitor the status of coupon, discount, and other promotional programs, • Perform check-ins and check-outs as well as wake-up calls, • Summarize results of operations for management, • Balance the days charges, making corrections as necessary, • Respond to guest needs, special requests, and complaints, • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time, • Additional tasks may be assigned at any given time Requirements: Qualifications: • High school graduate or equivalent, • Minimum one (1) year of hotel front desk experience, • Understand basic principles of auditing, balancing, and closing out accounts, • Know how to operate front office equipment, • Experience handling cash, accounting procedures, and general administrative tasks., • Excellent customer service skills. Our Hampton Inn with 107 guest rooms, is located off I-287/I-95 in South Plainfield, a half-mile from Hadley Center and 10 minutes from Piscataway. Rutgers University – New Brunswick is six miles away and we’re close to a variety of corporate offices. The New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center is nine miles away and we’re 30 minutes from Newark Airport. We serve a daily hot complimentary to all our guests. The Night Auditor is the face of the hotel during overnight hours and provides superior service to all guests. Responsibilities include: • Greeting guests, complete the check- in/ check-out procedure through the Property management system while obtaining and storing pertinent information., • Handles cash, credit card information and goods at the property., • Identifying the needs of each guest and provides relevant information regarding the hotel services and amenities, to create an accommodating environment for all. Respond to all guest requests in a timely manner., • Taking reservations from incoming callers inputs all pertinent information into the hotel management system. Updates and cancels reservations in the system as requested by the guest., • Organizes previous shifts paperwork, closes and balances all room accounts and vouchers, investigates and analyzes out of balance situations, runs trial balance reports and night audit., • Prepares guest folios for express check out.
