Job Description Job Title: Pharmacist in Charge– Diabetic DME Pharmacy Location: Bronx, NY (In-office) Hours: At least 30 hours/week, Monday through Friday (No weekends) Reports To: Strive Diabetic Division President About Strive Medical: Strive Medical is dedicated to enhancing patient quality of life by providing high-quality Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and pharmacy services. Our recent expansion into DME pharmacy services aims to deliver comprehensive care to diabetic patients with a focus on compliance, safety, and exceptional service. Position Summary: We are seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and detail-oriented Licensed Pharmacist to join our NY-based DME pharmacy team. The Pharmacist will oversee the processing of diabetic DME-related prescriptions and orders, ensure regulatory and insurance compliance, and support efficient pharmacy operations. The ideal candidate will have strong business acumen, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with onsite staff, healthcare providers, corporate leadership, and manufacturer partners. Staying current on product knowledge, training, and developments in diabetic supplies, insulin pumps, and related devices is essential. Key Responsibilities Pharmacy Operations & Compliance: Review, interpret, and process prescriptions and orders for diabetic DME items in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, including NY State and federal laws (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, HIPAA). Ensure all pharmacy activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, and standards, including proper documentation and reporting procedures. Keep abreast of changes in pharmacy laws, diabetic product regulations, and industry standards. Insurance Billing: Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of insurance contracts, reimbursement policies, and billing procedures. Order Processing & Patient Care: Verify and approve diabetic DME prescriptions, ensuring proper documentation, coding, and compliance. Collaborate with healthcare providers and patients to clarify and meet patient documentation needs, ensuring adherence to standards for order fulfillment and billing. Provider & Manufacturer Collaboration: Work proactively with healthcare providers to ensure complete, accurate, and compliant patient documentation. Liaise with manufacturers of diabetic supplies, insulin pumps, and other devices to stay informed on product updates, specifications, and training requirements. Establish and maintain relationships with manufacturers to facilitate product education, training sessions, and updates on new or improved products. Product Knowledge & Training: Regularly participate in manufacturer-led training sessions, webinars, and product updates to maintain current knowledge of diabetic supplies, insulin pumps, and related devices. Educate relevant pharmacy staff, providers, and patients on the proper use and features of new products. Leadership & Collaboration: Coordinate with onsite staff to ensure smooth operations and compliance. Communicate regularly with division president about pharmacy activities, updates, and operational insights. Support process improvements and adherence to quality standards. Business & Process Optimization: Assist in managing inventory, order dispensing, and billing to optimize operational efficiency. Contribute to strategic planning for the growth and enhancement of pharmacy services. Develop and revise pharmacy policies and procedures to ensure compliance and workflow efficiency. State Compliance: Keep in proper form all records required relating to the purchase and dispensing of all prescription required supplies. Eliminate from stock all misbranded and adulterated supplies including outdated supplies and supplies not properly labeled. Provide for the proper storage of supplies in order to prevent loss or deterioration. Insure coverage of the pharmacy by licensed pharmacists. Insure against unauthorized refills of prescriptions Insure against unauthorized entry into the pharmacys dispensing and compounding area and insure appropriate security. Be certain that the pharmacy is properly registered and operating in accordance with the present laws, rules and regulations. Qualifications & Requirements: Licensing & Certifications: Valid NY State Pharmacist License in good standing. Current license in Florida or other states considered a plus. Experience: Newly licensed pharmacists welcome to apply Familiarity with insulin pumps, diabetic devices, and related supplies is highly desirable. Familiarity with OPUS and NY State Medicaid is highly desirable. Knowledge & Skills: Strong understanding of pharmacy laws, regulations, and compliance standards related to DME and diabetic products. In-depth knowledge of insurance contracts, billing, and reimbursement processes. Ability to stay current on product updates, training, and industry developments through manufacturer collaborations and continuing education. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency with pharmacy management systems and relevant applications.
