Job Description Position Summary DM Plaza is seeking a hands-on Content & Community Manager who can find stories in what is already happening, capture them quickly, and turn them into compelling content and community momentum. This role is much broader than scheduling social posts. The right person should be comfortable filming constantly, talking naturally with people, spotting interesting personalities and moments, shaping messy ideas into clear stories, building genuine relationships, and continuously looking for ways to improve the creative and community work. Core Responsibilities • Regularly capture photo and video content across DM Plaza, Desi Dragon, Pearl & Leaf, Meridian Hill, Nature's Bazaar, and other relevant operations or events., • Identify stories already happening inside the businesses instead of relying only on pre-planned campaign concepts., • Find interesting personalities among staff, customers, creators, vendors, partners, and community members and develop story angles around them., • Turn rough ideas, founder thoughts, operational updates, launches, and community moments into clear content narratives., • Develop short-form video concepts, interview formats, behind-the-scenes stories, launch content, event content, community features, and other platform-appropriate creative., • Film, edit, package, and publish or coordinate publication of content with a bias toward consistent output and learning., • Use current, modern tools for video editing and content management, and stay current as stronger tools and workflows emerge., • Maintain a practical content calendar without allowing scheduling administration to become the center of the role., • Review content performance and use results to improve future creative decisions., • Identify creators, local groups, cultural communities, organizations, events, and partnership opportunities relevant to DM Plaza., • Initiate outreach and help nurture relationships when appropriate., • Coordinate partnership opportunities when ownership belongs to leadership or another team member., • Support event promotion and community activation, especially for Meridian Hill, without relying only on paid advertising., • Help build repeatable processes for capturing stories, organizing footage, tracking creator/community relationships, and following up on opportunities., • Once the content workflow is established, manage and direct an editing resource who supports post-production under this role. This support may be added after the role has established a working content process. What This Role Is Not • Not primarily a social media scheduling or posting administrator., • Not expected to own every external relationship personally., • Not a purely strategy-only marketing role., • Not dependent on large production crews or polished campaign budgets to make useful content., • Not limited to digital engagement; the role should connect online storytelling with real-world community relationships and events. Hard Skills and Experience • Relevant professional experience in content creation, social media, community, brand marketing, creative production, journalism, creator partnerships, events, or a closely related field is preferred, but strong instincts and demonstrated work can outweigh a traditional years-of-experience profile., • Strong short-form video instincts and ability to shoot useful content quickly with a phone or lightweight camera setup., • Demonstrated experience creating content personally, not only managing outside creators or agencies., • Ability to structure a story with a clear hook, point of view, progression, and payoff., • Strong working knowledge of short-form editing, common social media content formats, and current video editing and content management tools., • Ability to conduct natural interviews and make non-media-trained people feel comfortable on camera., • Ability to turn loosely structured ideas into concise scripts, outlines, captions, or video structures., • Strong written communication and copy judgment., • Ability to organize footage, ideas, content pipelines, contact lists, and follow-ups., • Comfort reviewing basic performance metrics and using them to improve creative output. Community and Partnership Skills • Strong social confidence and ability to build rapport naturally with many types of people., • Able to identify communities, creators, cultural organizations, businesses, and groups that could be relevant to DM Plaza., • Comfortable initiating outreach in person, by email, DM, or other appropriate channels., • Able to distinguish between opportunities they should own directly and those that should transition to leadership or another team member., • Able to help coordinate collaborations, creator visits, community events, cross-promotions, and relationship follow-up., • Understands that community-building requires repeated contact and trust, not only one-time promotion. On-Camera Expectations • Must be highly comfortable filming people regularly and working around a camera as part of normal operations., • Should also be comfortable appearing on camera when appropriate, including introductions, interviews, event coverage, or behind-the-scenes content., • Professional acting or presenter experience is not required; natural communication and confidence are more important. Preferred Qualifications • Experience building content for restaurants, hospitality, retail, events, food, culture, lifestyle, or community-focused brands., • Experience with creator partnerships or community activations., • Strong familiarity with New York City neighborhoods, communities, creators, cultural organizations, or event ecosystems., • Experience covering live events and producing content quickly from them., • Portfolio showing personally created short-form video and storytelling work., • Ability to speak Bengali is a plus but is not required. What Success Looks Like • DM Plaza consistently captures and publishes stories that feel real, specific, and connected to the people and businesses inside the plaza., • The team develops a steady pipeline of useful content ideas from day-to-day operations, launches, staff, guests, and events., • Leadership can share a rough thought and receive a clear, usable story or content structure in return., • DM Plaza steadily expands its network of creators, community groups, cultural organizations, and potential partners., • Meridian Hill and other DM Plaza events gain community momentum through relationships, content, creator involvement, and targeted outreach, not only paid advertising., • The role produces tangible creative output consistently rather than becoming primarily administrative.
