Program/Department Description Community Access’s OMH licensed Intensive Crisis Residence (ICR) is inspired by the Soteria model and is designed as an alternative to psychiatric hospitalization for people going through an acute psychiatric crisis and who would benefit from a respite period in a stabilizing, home-like environment with 24-hour peer support and treatment services. The Soteria ICR will work with guests for up to 28 days to help them develop awareness and skills that will allow them to return to the community with an increased ability to manage their mental health concerns. The ICR will follow a Soteria model which emphasizes shared running of a home-like environment, positive expectations of recovery, validation of subjective experiences, the concept of “being with” a person, providing 1:1 support, 24 hours a day, and self-determination. Services are completely voluntary, and guests are encouraged to maintain their daily responsibilities and activities in the community during their stay including work, school, family care, recreation, and wellness appointments. The program works with guests throughout their stay on discharge planning focused on safety and wellness, and provides post-discharge follow up health resource navigation support. Position Overview The Assistant Program Director is responsible for supporting the Program Director in the overall administration and the day-to-day operation of the ICR. Call camper parents/guardian/emergency contact when necessary., • Maintain accurate and specific records on all injuries, illness, medications and treatments administered. Complete appropriate forms and inventories as necessary and turned into office., • Work closely with the other nurses in developing uniform procedures, educational materials and presentations., • Monitor and provide supportive suggestions for health and safety at the waterfront, in all areas of camp food service and in the campers’ daily program., • Provide an active presence in the camp community, including the interaction with campers in their campsite homes., • Conduct daily spot inspection of certain camp facilities, and program areas, as to health, safety and cleanliness., • Maintain and ensure security (under lock and key) of all medications., • Assist in evening program and special events as requested by Camp Director or Assistant Camp Director., • Follow location’s phone policy. The telephone located in the infirmary is the Camp’s only 24-hour emergency phone when the main administration office is closed. Key Responsibilities • Conduct on-site and hands-on daily supervision (2-6pm) of Manhattan Youth’s age appropriate after-school activities (sports, arts, STEM and other academic enrichment, leadership)., • Hire, train and supervise all site staff members., • Convey and execute program vision with effective project management skills and entrepreneurial spirit., • Conduct staff performance evaluations, address disciplinary and performance issues, approve staff timecards and submit payroll reports., • Coordinate program/staff schedules to meet needs of comprehensive after-school programming and DOE requirements and ensure coverage when staff members are absent., • Assess students’ interest in new after-school programming and success of current programs, • Manage club enrollment, assignments and changes for participants, and track club attendance., • Collaborate with Executive Director and Assistant Executive Director on school or program related issues., • Ensure necessary equipment, consumables, supplies and snacks are delivered to program., • Represent Manhattan Youth in the community, initiate and organize special events, and promote programs through emails, phone calls, mailings, attending events and ad hoc conversations., • Ensure safety of children during classroom activities, recreation and field trips, address emergency situations and disciplinary issues., • Maintain confidential student records, including disciplinary and incident reports., • Communicate regularly with school principal, faculty, PTA, staff, students and parents, address concerns that may arise, keep parents updated., • Lead regular staff meetings and attend meetings with parents, principals, PTA and other community members., • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field plus a minimum of 3 years after-school education and/or childcare experience in a leadership position., • Strong leadership skills and the ability to effectively manage and correct conduct and performance of adults and children., • Ability to manage, organize and prioritize multiple tasks and work under pressure., • Excellent oral and written communication skills., • Strong computer skills – including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Sharepoint, OneDrive), Zoom, ATS, scheduling software., • Knowledge of or ability to master employee scheduling and newsletter applications., • Ability to take initiative, maintain tact and diplomacy, use sound judgment, anticipate issues and thoughtfully handle unanticipated events., • Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail., • Commitment to Manhattan Youth’s mission.
