We are seeking a motivated Stony Brook University graduate (or equivalent) with a degree in Environmental Science and a solid foundation in Environmental Health & Safety. The ideal candidate will be familiar with EPA and NYS DEC regulations, including NPDES, SPDES, SWPPP, and Part 360. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated, highly organized individual to join our Environmental Health & Safety team. In this role, you will provide safety support to our construction project management teams and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations. Key Functions • Provide safety support to project teams, • Conduct frequent safety inspections and audits of multiple job sites, • Lead weekly safety meetings (toolbox talks) with employees and subcontractors, • Assist in developing site-specific Health & Safety Plans, Safe Work Plans, Job Hazard Analyses, and Tailboards, • Investigate near misses, injuries, accidents, and property damage incidents, • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations, • Partner with project managers, supervisors, and workers to identify and correct unsafe conditions or practices, • Identify potential loss-producing conditions, recommend corrective actions, and monitor implementation, • Observe work practices in real time to provide support and promote safe behaviors Desired Qualifications • 1+ years of experience in EH&S management, environmental management, or permitting, • Bachelor’s degree in environmental studies, Coastal environmental studies (preferred), Safety, Construction Management, or a related field, • Knowledge of NYS DEC regulations; NPDES, SPDES, SWPPP, Part 360, • Experience in human performance and error reduction, • OSHA training preferred, • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard computer applications, • Strong initiative, organizational skills, and ability to work independently, • Sound judgment with the ability to identify problems, evaluate information, and recommend solutions, • Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with a strong work ethic, • Ability to pass a background check and maintain a valid driver’s license Why Haugland Group? This position is on first shift on a 9/80 work schedule with every other Friday off! The selected candidate for this position will be joining the Greenlawn NY Operations team in the Manufacturing Engineering/Technical Operations group and will provide sustaining engineering, process development and new process implementation across the manufacturing floor through hands-on problem solving, data analyses and application of engineering principles, Six Sigma and lean manufacturing principles to improve product flow and yields. Responsibilities may include:\n • Developing production processes and failure analyses of product, requiring knowledge of mil specs and manufacturing materials and processes including finishes, paints, adhesives, metals, welding, and brazing.\n, • Developing new processes and implementing changes in product flow to support Depot and current production lines through the application of lean manufacturing principles.\n, • Analyzing defect data to identify areas to improve yield. Working with others to implement process improvements. Appling Lean Six Sigma tools to solve production problems and improve existing processes. Using poke yoke principles to prevent production problems.\n, • Participating in and documenting root cause corrective action (RCCA) using problem solving methodologies.\n, • Defining and specifying the requirements for assembly tooling, fixtures and equipment to support current manufacturing operations and recommending changes for production line continuous improvements.\n, • Supporting the implementation of new automation assembly equipment including programming, process qualifications/validations and supporting tooling design.\n, • Bachelor's Degree in Material Science, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.\n, • At least 2 years of job-related experience.\n, • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance\n, • Exhibit sound interpersonal skills involving interfacing, coordinating and negotiating with company personnel at all levels, customers and suppliers.\n, • Experience reading and using technical drawings, wire lists, schematics, process sheets, and change orders.\n, • Lean manufacturing, Sigma Green or Black Belt preferred.\n, • Active Secret Clearance.\n Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures.
