Job Description IRON Recovery and Wellness Center Now Hiring: FFS Counselor Internship Location: Toms River Shift: Varies Job Type: Part- Time Pay: $35 Position Summary: The Fee for Service Clinician, under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Services or designated managers, provides direct therapeutic services including individual, couples, and family therapy. The clinician also contributes to departmental and organizational quality improvement efforts. Primary responsibilities include providing substance abuse counseling, conducting assessments, using ASAM criteria for placement decisions, developing treatment plans with realistic goals and timelines, delivering case management services, and making referrals based on client needs. The clinician maintains confidential client records, adheres to agency policies, and participates in program quality improvement activities. Essential Duties * Maintain up-to-date clinical records, treatment plans, and all required documentation. * Follow all agency policies, ethical standards, confidentiality rules, and reporting requirements. * Conduct assessments (ASI or similar), diagnose substance use disorders, determine ASAM level of care, and obtain relevant prior records. * Collaborate with clients to develop recovery-oriented treatment plans and provide counseling services based on those plans. * Monitor progress using ASAM criteria, update treatment plans, and manage transfers or discharges as appropriate. * Coordinate with referral sources, participate in case consultations and multidisciplinary team meetings, and connect clients with external resources. * Address client financial responsibilities, including determining financial status, completing billing documents, and collecting co-pays. * Stay current on clinical practices, complete required trainings, and participate in quality improvement activities. * Prepare and submit accurate reports (including payroll) on time. * Serve as a liaison with outside agencies. * Maintain an active CADC or LCADC credential. * Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Education & Experience * Master’s in Psychology, Social Work, or related field; licensure preferred (LCADC, LPC, LCSW). * 3+ years in mental health or substance abuse treatment preferred. * Knowledge of DSM-5, psychiatric care, psychotropic medications, and substance use prevention/treatment. * Familiarity with community resources and programs. * Strong organizational, planning, grant-writing, and team-building skills. * Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, stress-management, and communication skills.
