Job Summary As the Sous Chef within our Healthcare Food & Nutrition Services Department, you will play a key role in supporting the daily culinary operations for a 131‑bed Behavioral Health Center. In this role, you will assist with supervising food production, ensuring therapeutic diet compliance, preparing and cooking menu items, and supporting the development and presentation of daily menus. You may also oversee hourly food service team members and collaborate closely with the Executive Chef to implement new menus, maintain food safety standards, and assist with ordering and inventory management. This position is ideal for an energetic culinary professional committed to quality, service, and patient-centered care. Key Responsibilities • Assists the Executive Chef in managing food and labor cost controls and maintaining budgetary compliance., • Supports menu planning and development to meet patient nutrition needs, regulatory standards, and facility preferences., • Produces and executes internal catering and special events for staff, patients, and visitors., • Implements new culinary and nutrition programs in partnership with company culinary and marketing teams., • Ensures compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and healthcare regulatory requirements (e.g., ServSafe, HACCP, Joint Commission standards).Preferred Qualifications, • Associate degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent hands-on experience; High School Diploma or GED required., • Progressive experience in culinary or kitchen leadership, particularly in healthcare, senior living, or other institutional settings., • Catering and high-volume food production experience strongly preferred., • Experience with batch cooking and therapeutic diet preparation beneficial., • Strong understanding of culinary trends, food cost management, production efficiency, sanitation, and presentation., • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, email, and basic computer applications., • Willingness to engage in patient and client satisfaction initiatives., • ServSafe certification highly desirable.
