Job DescriptionBH JOB POSTING Sanitation Technician (Food Manufacturing facility) Job Title: Sanitation Technician (Food Manufacturing facility) Department: Sanitation Reports To: Area Lead, Sanitation Location: Suffolk County, Long Island, NYJob Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and safety-minded Sanitation Technician to join our team. Under the direct supervision of the Sanitation Supervisor, the Sanitation Technician is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing production equipment and facilities in accordance with established Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOPs). Maintaining a clean and sanitary environment is essential to ensure food safety and the consistent delivery of high-quality products to our customers.Key Responsibilities: • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of production equipment and areas per company and regulatory standards, • Clean and disinfect production equipment, floors, ceilings, walls, and refrigerated units; operate and maintain rack washers, washer extractors, and dryers, • Properly store and manage cleaning and disinfecting supplies; report contamination risks or suspicious activity to supervisor, • Disassemble, clean, and reassemble production equipment; clean tanks, pipes, and overhead systems using proper methods and tools, • Use pumps and apply cleaning chemicals safely and effectively; ensure chemical rooms are well-maintained and all chemicals are labeled and stored properlySafety Responsibilities:, • Follow all company safety rules, procedures, and PPE requirements, • Report any incidents, injuries, near-misses, or unsafe conditions immediately, • Ensure all equipment used is safe and functional; report defects promptly, • Work in compliance with all health and safety legislation and internal policiesFood Safety Responsibilities:, • Adhere to food safety and quality standards per SQF and GMP requirements, • Support continuous improvement of food safety programs, • Sanitation Technician Team: Coordinate cleaning responsibilities and ensure consistency, • High school diploma or equivalent, • Good communication and observation skills, • Ability to lift 10–100 lbs with co-worker assistance, • Ability to push/pull up to 500 lbs on wheels over short distances, • Flexibility to twist, bend, stoop, and work in physically demanding environments, • Ability to work in varying temperatures (e.g., walk-in coolers)Success Factors:, • Maintain accurate cleaning documentation per SSOPs, • Ensure the chemical room remains orderly, with properly labeled and stored chemicals, • Comply with all GMP, food safety, and quality policies, • Complete all tasks efficiently, safely, and as instructed by supervisors, • Exhibit teamwork, attention to detail, and reliabilityWorking Conditions:, • Frequent use of hands and fingers for cleaning and handling supplies, • Exposure to temperature changes, especially in refrigerated areas, • Frequent bending, twisting, lifting, and neck movement, • Regular exposure to industrial cleaning chemicals, wet surfaces, and moderate noise Pay Details: $19.25 per hour Benefit offerings available for our associates include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits and a 401K plan.
