Job DescriptionJob Title: Engineering Technician Job Description The Engineering Technician performs in‑process testing of circuit boards and electronic systems, troubleshoots issues down to the component level, and supports new system development in close collaboration with the engineering team. This role involves loading software for system testing, using advanced test equipment to validate performance, and occasionally traveling to customer sites to conduct inspections, installations, and repairs. The position suits a hands-on electronics professional who enjoys problem-solving, working with test fixtures and schematics, and contributing to continuous improvement in a collaborative engineering and manufacturing environment. Responsibilities • Write and execute in‑process test procedures for circuit boards and electronic assemblies., • Troubleshoot electronic systems and printed circuit boards down to the component level using appropriate test equipment., • Collaborate closely with Engineering to support the development, integration, and verification of new systems., • Load and configure software for system testing and verify proper operation of hardware and software together., • Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and wire lists prior to and during system testing to ensure accurate setup and diagnosis., • Identify, document, and report unusual and recurring faults, failures, and trends observed during testing., • Return defective components and assemblies to Quality Assurance and provide clear information on observed issues., • Use oscilloscopes, digital voltmeters (DVM), and other test equipment to perform detailed testing and troubleshooting., • Perform high-voltage testing as required, following appropriate safety procedures and test protocols., • Support fielded equipment by traveling to customer sites, domestic and international, to conduct inspections, installations, troubleshooting, and repairs., • Assist with or contribute to test fixture design and improvement when needed., • Maintain accurate test records, documentation, and reports for all work performed., • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and improve product quality and test processes., • Perform other related duties as requested, directed, or assigned to support engineering and manufacturing operations.Essential Skills, • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in the electrical or electronic testing field., • High school diploma or equivalent., • Working knowledge of digital electronics., • Thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic components and test equipment, including the use of digital oscilloscopes., • Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, and wire lists., • Hands-on experience with testing and troubleshooting at the board level., • Proficiency with oscilloscopes, digital voltmeters (DVM), and general electronic test equipment., • Experience with both analog and digital power circuits., • Strong troubleshooting skills for printed circuit boards and electronic systems., • Strong computer skills for test documentation, software loading, and data analysis., • Self-starter with excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with engineering and manufacturing teams., • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance., • Some travel availability to support fielded equipment domestically and internationally.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in electronics, electrical engineering technology, or a related field is desirable., • Established security clearance is highly desirable., • Experience with power conversion and power supply systems is desirable., • Experience in high-voltage testing environments is a plus., • Experience with test fixture design is a plus., • Background in a manufacturing or engineering test environment is beneficial.Work Environment The role is based in a standard engineering and manufacturing environment within a large facility that is currently being upgraded to enhance efficiency and workflow. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Yaphank, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
