Since 1893, Helen Keller Services (HKS) has been committed to improve the lives of individual who are blind, visually impaired or have combined hearing and vision loss. HKS serves the New York City/Long Island area from its new headquarters in dynamic downtown Brooklyn and the Helen Keller National Center for Deaf-Blind Youth and Adults of Sands Point, New York, which has a network of regional offices that extends HKS’ reach across the United States. Camp staff must be available for mandatory orientation on July 1st and 2nd, and Monday-Friday, 8:30am-3pm, from July 6th-August 7th. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Summer Camp Counselor Counselors are expected to utilize the training received at orientation to support the social-emotional development of the children enrolled in the program. This includes not only monitoring the campers, but being constantly actively engaged in the activities and events, including but not limited to outdoor sports, swimming, music & dance, arts & crafts, technology, and various field trips.
