Overview: Interstate Waste is Hiring Class A Truck Drivers in Jersey City, NJ Overnight Position - 8pm start Monday - Friday with 1/2 day on Saturday $28.95/Hour The CDL-A Drivers will be operating tractor trailers transporting containers of municipal and commercial waste between our local Transfer Stations and our rail yards. Highlights: • Monday-Friday Schedule 8pm - 6AM (1/2 day on Saturday), • Hourly Pay Rate $28.95, • Overtime paid after 40 hours in a work week., • 1 Year (Minimum) Class A, Tractor Trailer Driving experience is required along with a good safety record. Other minor duties may be assigned.: Essential Job Functions: Responsibilities • The driver is responsible for safely operating the truck in compliance with IWS’s safety standards as well as OSHA and DOT regulations, and local traffic laws., • This is a full time, year around, • This union position offers competitive pay and full benefits, including medical insurance, life insurance, retirement benefits, and paid time off., • All routes are local, you will be home daily., • Ensuring that the intermodal container and its content are always secure on the Tractor & Chassis Unit.. This includes periodically checking tarps and ties and may require the driver to climb onto containers and/or reach overhead., • Perform pre- and post-route inspections of assigned truck and document any safety issues on standard reports., • Continuously monitor for safety and service-related issues, as well as containers of other equipment in need of repair, and report any issues to the Route Supervisor or Dispatch., • All IWS employees are expected to be responsible and accountable for the safety for themselves, their colleagues, the trucks, and other equipment and property. Drivers must immediately notify Route Supervisor or Dispatch of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage., • Communicate professionally with customers and Dispatchers at all times. This includes receiving complaints about schedules and quality of service. Our Drivers must make note of and report on any such complaints and respond in a courteous and respectful manner., • Other duties as assigned. Work Environment • The Driver position may be required to lift up to 50 pounds, as well as mount and dismount the truck multiple times every route., • As part of our commitment to safety and accountability, all our trucks are equipped with route tracking software and video monitoring., • Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States., • All Drivers must have a valid Class A CDL with air brake endorsement, and a clean driving record., • At least 1 year of experience operating a vehicle requiring a CDL-A, within the last 7 years. Experience as a Driver or Helper for a refuge company is highly preferred., • Working knowledge of DOT, OSHA and applicable traffic regulations., • Must be able to speak and read English well enough to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic and signals, respond to official questions, and be able to make legible entries on reports and records., • Must be able to read and understand a map, • Must be able to meet the physical and safety requirements of the position., • Must be willing and able to work required worked hours as allowed under DOT regulation and may include weekend, night, and/or holiday work. About the job We are looking for a Logistics Associate to join our growing team in New York. This role will work closely with the logistics associates, driver, and station manager. Responsibilities: • Collection/Delivery - Operates all assigned vehicles, single, tandem, or multi axle configurations, forklifts, etc. in accordance with established safety standards, proper vehicle operation techniques and specified time schedules. Acts as the face of Shengsheng for all shipment collections and deliveries and ensures that customer interactions are handled in a pro-active and professional manner at all times., • Packing - Prepares and packages of all specialist packaging and temperature controlled consignments of various temperature zones ensuring all mandatory procedures are adhered to. Re-packs and/or re-ice shipments where necessary and ensuring all mandatory procedures are adhered to., • Documentation - Ensures the correct documentation such as airway bill, delivery slips, and invoices are accurately completed and processed with the shipment. Be aware of the regulations covering the transportation, labelling and packaging of dangerous/hazardous substances and observe and comply with these regulations at all times. Completes necessary paperwork, including accurate logbooks, records of cargo and any other assigned record-keeping duties on a daily basis., • Loading/Unloading - Loads and unloads containers, pallets, or materials and products, safely on trucks, trailers, or railcars by hand or by forklift truck. When loading, ensures loads are evenly balanced and distributed from the front of the trailer to the back and from side to side, as well checks axle weights and loads them in accordance with the DOT regulations., • Warehouse - Performs all necessary duties to maintain a clean, tidy and safe warehouse, ensuring all materials are stored in the designated areas. Reports any shortfalls of packaging stock, to the appropriate person, to ensure minimal stock levels are always maintained. Ensures refridges, freezers and incubator/oven temperatures are checked and remain within prescribed parameters and maintain accurate records thereof.
