Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Respiratory Therapist, Hospital. In this role, the successful candidate administers respiratory modalities to patients of all age groups in accordance with prescribed medical standards, and only upon a written, verbal or telephone order. Performs technical duties in conjunction with the operation and maintenance of respiratory care equipment. Provides supervisory oversight and reviews for the blood gas laboratory in absence of a supervisor. Job Responsibilities: • Performs other duties as assigned, • Provides basic and advanced respiratory services to infant, pediatric, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. Performs routine respiratory clinical care including medication administration, arterial puncture, and initiation and monitoring of oxygen therapy., • Performs critical care duties including the initiation of, management, and discontinuation of mechanical ventilation, non invasive ventilation, endotracheal intubation and extubation, airway care and attendance at announced cardiopulmonary and trauma resuscitation, as well as Rapid Response team deployments., • Participates in multi-disciplinary clinical rounds to obtain and communicate relevant clinical findings and observations., • Reviews patient's medical records and orders. Accurately and completely documents therapeutic and diagnostic interventions and observations in the electronic charting system., • Performs blood gas analysis and maintenance as required. Troubleshoots instrumentation as required. Performs annual proficiency sample analysis when assigned. Preferred Qualifications: 3 - 5 years Current Respiratory Care clinical experience. VSCLI is a Specialty Referral Practice and a 24-Hour Emergency Care Hospital in Huntington, NY. Our brand-new 10,000 square-foot state-of-the-art hospital opened its doors in May 2024. VSCLI’s specialty services include: Emergency, Diagnostics, and Surgery. VSCLI is seeking an Emergency Veterinarian to join our Team, and assist us in rapidly growing our specialty referral practice and 24-hour emergency hospital. VSCLI is looking for a highly skilled Emergency Veterinarian who is dedicated to delivering the highest quality of emergency medicine and critical care. We are seeking an Emergency Veterinarian who specializes in triage and treating life-threatening injuries and illnesses. We are seeking an ER veterinarian who can cover fourteen @ 12-hour shifts per month. Your schedule will be alternating work weeks of three (3) shifts per week and four (4) shifts per week, totaling 14 shifts per month. Shifts will be 8am to 8pm or 8pm to 8am. Our team of ER Veterinarians have a rotational schedule and you will know all of your workdays up to 6 months in advance. For Emergency Veterinarians with surgical interests, your tenure at VSCLI will enable you to scrub in and receive surgical training by VSCLI's specialty surgeons. Once you have the required proficiency, you will be able to bring emergency cases requiring surgery into the OR. This individual must also be able to adapt quickly to our patients’ changing conditions, be a quick thinker and be able to treat emergent cases quickly. You must be able to work in consultation with our other ER doctors and Surgical Specialists. Experience treating the following conditions is required: • Wound Care, • Gastrointestinal issues, • Trauma (such as falling from high places, being struck by a car or external object, etc.), • Seizures, • Diabetic Ketoacidosis, • Respiratory Distress, • Pain and discomfort, • Post-operative complications, • Disorientation, • Trouble breathing, • Blood in their urine or stool, • Performing emergency surgeries and procedures as needed., • Effectively communicating with pet owners, providing compassionate care to both pets and their families., • Collaborating with the veterinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans., • Maintaining accurate medical records (PMS is Instinct) and staying informed about the latest advances in emergency medicine. This candidate must be professional, compassionate, dedicated, enthusiastic, conscientious, positive, and communicates well with colleagues, staff, and clients. This Emergency Veterinarian should be able to remain calm under pressure and always be compassionate and empathetic toward the patient and their family members.
