Job description
We are looking for a mid-level Database Administrator (DBA) with 3+ years of experience to take ownership of our database infrastructure. This role is crucial for managing, optimizing, and evolving our database systems, ensuring scalability, performance, and security. The DBA will work closely with a new development team to support our core applications, improve data management, and enable the transition towards scalable in-house technology team.
As the company is transitioning from an external agency support to an internal IT team, this role will play a key part in shaping and optimizing our database infrastructure, ensuring that it meets the company's long-term goals.
The ideal candidate will have experience in database management, performance tuning, and security best practices. This position will play a vital role in enhancing our internal data architecture and supporting key product developments.


Responsibilities
Manage and maintain the company’s SQL database infrastructure to ensure high availability and optimal performance.
Implement schema modifications and structural improvements to support the evolution of our core CRUD application.
Optimize queries, indexing, and database performance to enhance application efficiency.
Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with industry best practices.
Assist in the migration and integration of data between systems, ensuring seamless functionality across all platforms.
Automate database maintenance tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
Collaborate with backend developers to optimize API interactions with the database.
Define and implement backup and disaster recovery plans to safeguard critical data.
Establish documentation and best practices for database usage within the organization.

Job requirements
3+ years of experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role, with a strong focus on N2-level responsibilities such as performance tuning, query optimization, database security, and advanced troubleshooting.
Strong expertise in MySQL and PostgreSQL (or other SQL-based systems).
Experience in query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning.
Familiarity with data backup, recovery, and security best practices.
Knowledge of database schema design and normalization.
Hands-on experience in API-driven database architectures is a plus.
Experience with cloud database solutions (AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL, etc.) is a plus.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of database-related decision-making.
Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Good English – our working language and written content language is English
Residing in Barcelona or nearby. This is a hybrid position.
