Company summary Bioherent is a deep-tech spin-off from the University of Málaga developing state-of-the-art photonic biosensors to simplify and accelerate clinical diagnostics. Our technology combines photonics, chemistry, and clinical sciences to address unmet needs in healthcare. Joining Bioherent means contributing directly to the development of next-generation diagnostic solutions in a fast-moving, multidisciplinary environment based in Málaga. Required background • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, Fluid Mechanics, or a closely related technical field., • At least 4 years of experience in mechanical design, mechanical systems development, product development, or applied R&D., • Strong experience in fluid mechanics, fluid handling systems, microfluidics, thermal control, or temperature regulation systems., • Hands-on experience designing, building, testing, and improving prototypes., • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment involving mechanics, electronics, photonics, software, chemistry, and clinical applications., • Fluent English, both written and spoken. Spanish is a plus. Technical skills • Strong knowledge of fluid mechanics, flow control, pressure management, sealing, tubing, valves, pumps, connectors, and fluidic integration., • Experience developing or optimizing temperature control systems, thermal regulation modules, heating/cooling systems, sensors, and thermal management solutions., • Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, CATIA, AutoCAD, or similar., • Ability to translate product and experimental requirements into mechanical, thermal, and fluidic specifications., • Experience designing, assembling, validating, and troubleshooting mechanical and fluidic prototypes., • Knowledge of materials selection, tolerances, mechanical interfaces, manufacturability, and reliability of assembled systems., • Experience generating technical documentation, drawings, assembly procedures, test protocols, and validation reports., • Ability to analyze experimental data, identify root causes of system failures, and propose practical engineering solutions. Preferred skills • Experience with microfluidic systems, lab-on-a-chip devices, biosensors, IVD instruments, medical devices, or analytical instrumentation., • Experience with CFD or thermal simulation tools such as COMSOL, ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, SolidWorks Flow Simulation, or similar., • Experience with temperature sensors, PID control, thermal calibration, fluidic automation, or closed-loop control systems., • Basic knowledge of electronics, sensors, actuators, embedded systems, or control software., • Basic programming or scripting skills in Python, MATLAB, C/C++, LabVIEW, Arduino, or similar., • Experience working with external manufacturers, suppliers, machine shops, or contract manufacturers., • Familiarity with ISO 13485, medical device development, design transfer, risk analysis, FMEA, verification and validation, or technical documentation for regulated products., • Understanding of optical, photonic, or biosensing systems would be considered a strong advantage.
