Medical Research Expert at Savana Major Accountabilities where this role is involved: Project Leadership and Scientific Oversight • Lead the overall context of the project's development, ensuring clinical and scientific coherence across all phases when needed and alignment with cross-functional teams and timelines., • Act as the main scientific liaison with the Sponsor or external stakeholders, anticipating challenges, tailoring our services and products to their perspective, and enhancing relationship quality and trust., • Provide medical guidance across the research lifecycle: project definition, protocol development, statistical analysis review, variable extraction, study reports, and scientific dissemination., • Ensure consistency and clinical relevance of study objectives, endpoints, inclusion/exclusion criteria, data sources, and final results. Interpretation and Scientific Validation • Perform critical review of study results, contextualizing findings within the medical landscape and aligning with the latest scientific developments., • Review and validate both structured and unstructured clinical data outputs generated by AI models., • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to validate study designs and clinical assumptions. Scientific Communication • Contribute to the preparation of scientific materials (articles, posters, abstracts) ensuring clarity, accuracy, and clinical relevance., • Translate complex clinical findings into actionable insights for internal non-medical teams., • Support the company’s scientific positioning through evidence-based communication adapted to different audiences (clients, partners, regulatory bodies, scientific community). Cross-Functional Clinical Guidance • Provide clinical and conceptual guidance to support the company’s interpretation of medical content using NLP and ML technologies., • Contribute across key functions including: i) Data onboarding and structuring during hospital integration; ii) Annotation team support and criteria clarification; iii) Terminology development and model refinement; iv) Data quality validation; v) Scientific support for the Life Sciences and Healthcare Units during project and product scoping. Innovation and Product Development • Provide clinical input to the design, evaluation, and improvement of new products, tools, and functionalities aligned with real-world medical needs and opportunities. Information Security Management System Responsibilities • Ensure familiarity with and adherence to the organization's information security policies and procedures., • Participate in regular information security training sessions to stay updated on potential threats and necessary security measures., • Promptly report any security incidents or vulnerabilities to the designated function within the organization., • Maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information by following best practices for data handling and protection; including using strong passwords, encrypting sensitive data, regularly updating software, and promptly reporting any security incidents. Quality Management System Responsibilities: • Adhere to Savana’s Quality Management System (QMS) policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations., • Participate in and complete assigned training activities., • Identify and report any deviations from controlled processes or regulations., • Work closely with the Quality Team to resolve Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), deviations, and audit findings as deemed applicable., • Contribute to the maintenance and review of Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) and Application Manuals (AMs) related to team activities as applicable. Skills, Experience and Qualifications required: • Degree in Medicine or exceptionally other life science disciplines, with demonstrated experience and understanding of clinical practice and healthcare systems., • Clinical research experience (in clinical trials and/or real-world evidence studies), particularly in study design, interpretation, and scientific communication., • 3–5 years of experience in a similar or related role involving scientific oversight and medical review., • Strong ability to interpret and validate structured and unstructured clinical data, including outputs from NLP and AI-based tools., • Solid understanding of epidemiological and research methodology concepts., • Familiarity with clinical terminologies (e.g., SNOMED CT) and standard classification systems., • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office; experience with digital platforms or health data systems is a plus., • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish., • Ability to communicate complex clinical concepts clearly to multidisciplinary and non-medical audiences., • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, particularly with data science, analytics, technology, and product teams., • Experience contributing to or co-authoring scientific publications, abstracts, or presentations is desirable.
